Yates Union Chapel Cemetery |
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
I post information and photos so we can learn, share and remember those before us. If you wish to manage any listing that I have posted it would be my pleasure to pass it on to you.

Thanks for accepting the edits and for transferring my great-great aunt's memorial to me, and for all the fine and generous work you do! All the best, Rosemary

Thanks for catching that! I dunno why I had them listed in Grantsburg Cemetery. I had just visited English Cemetery again this past October and remember seeing the Standiford markers there. Oh well...it's fixed now. Thanks again! :)
I finally got around to this and I found his parents as well. Thanks for the info.

Ron, I have updated the memorial and changed the cemetery to the Poor Farm Cemetery. Thanks much for the additional information.

Thank you so much for your e-mail. The Brown Information I have, had Mary's resting place as McKendree Cemetery. With a photo of her Tombstone, I'd say that is where she is buried, (Sandusky Cemetery). I e-mailed, Jim asking him to link Mary to her parents. I also deleted my posting. I appreciate your taking the time to let me know.
Thank you again,

Thanks for the info on Sgt. Yates.129993618 This has been the first response I have received for Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Was wondering if anyone even cared. If he is a relative, would you like him transferred?

I saw that page, but the photo doesn't really help and there isn't much information other than "Adair County". I called the clerk there and she wasn't very helpful. It looks like I'll have to make a trip to Adair county when I'm able and look for records. Thank you for your help. :)

Hi Mr. Yates, I was hoping you could help me. I see that you posted the death certificate for this memorial. I'm trying to find the "Asper-Yates Burying Ground" as it's called on this website, but on her certificate it's listed as "Yates Graveyard". I don't see any such listings when I do a search for cemeteries in Adair county. If you can help in any way, it would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. --- Amy W
