RE: Paul Iselin Wellman
The transfer is welcome but I feel unworthy as you have so much info I do not. I will try to sort all out. Need to do more research obviously. Could you please tell me your source(s) esp on the quotes of brother Frederick and for the name of his sister, etc.? info that I did not have.

Yes, my father's surname is Welsh (although everyone assumes it is Italian because it now ends in "O," all the original "E's" having been dropped hundreds of years ago) but my heritage IS Scottish on my mother's side, and I support my clan & the local Highland Games.

I see your career was in law enforcement and I applaud you for being a part of that necessary struggle. Thank you in advance for whatever help you can share. Best wishes, Ann P.

RE: Paul Iselin Wellman
Appreciate nice note AND also all the details on Paul's memorial. He & Laura were close friends of my father's and I'd known them since childhood. I have some details on that family in my Rootsweb database, the info some of it hard come by.

I strongly believe Paul & Manly to be children of Dr. F.C. (1841-1917) Wellman's 2nd marriage. This missionary doctor who died in L.A. was first married in 1868 to Sally Pomeroy and I believe the Frederick Creighton Wellman (b. 1870) you show as Paul's & Manly's father is rather, quite probably, their elder half-brother who was living near Manly at the time of his death.

Here is a link to my Rootsweb page on Dr. Frederick C. Wellman
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=agp4fams&id=I65002

It will have links to pages re Paul, Manly, spouses, etc. I have not added Frederick b.1870 except as a "post-em" on Manly's page,

Thank you again. I, too, loved Paul's books including the histories. :)
