Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am originally from Peekskill, NY, and have spent a lot of time at the Assumption Cemetery in 2009 and have over 5,000 headstones pictured. Most of the pictures that I have are for headstones with death dates prior to 1970. I also have some pictures from other cemeteries I visit as well.

If there is one for your family here, please let me know and I will be happy to move the ownership of that memorial to you. Please send me a note under the Edit tab on the memorial you are writing about. If you see one for your family member and you do not want them to have a memorial page, please let me know that also and I will delete it.

My purpose in doing this is to help in trying to make sure that no one is forgotten and also to help family members find their relatives.

Please feel free to use any of the headstone pictures that I post in your genealogy project, no credit is needed. This is about making sure that people are remembered, not about picture ownership.

Did I ever get back to you in reply to your message about Popoli, Italy? I got side tracked with Crew season, and am now going thru a long to-do list that has piled up now that I am done with that very time consuming sport :) lmk! ~Colleen

"Fanny" Frisone
Hi Rich,

My name is Michael Racine. I was born Michael Frisone in Poughkeepsie New York but had a legal name chane at 11 years old to match my step dad's. Fanny was my great grandma. Dominic was my father's ( Mike Frisone )father, my grandpa. Anne Frisone ( dominic's ex wife, my father's mother) is my grandma. we referred to Anne as grandma and Fanny as "Italian Grandma" because she didn't speak English. I remember going to her house as a little kid in the early 70's and being stuffed to the gills with good ol' authentic Italian cooking. My grandpa was an artist and we couldn't wait to go to their house to see what new painting grandpa was working on. My father still has a few of thiose paintings. Even though there was a language barrier we always new that grandma loved us kids. She, however, did not like my mother too much. Probably because she wasn't an Italian girl that every Italian grandmother wants their grandkids to marry. My mom's name is Gail but "Italian Grandma" always called her 'Girl'. My mom used to tell us that was because grandma's English wasn't very good but later we found out it really meant "that girl" We loved her just the same. Fanny out lived all of her children with Dominic being the last to pass. No parent should ever have to witness that but she kept on for quite a few years after grandpa's passing. Grandpa Frisone was a giant in my sister and mine eyes. We miss him dearly. My dad also had mentioned that he had some ties to the Mafioso in New York, which is no surprise, after all we are Italians. I have nothing but great memories of grandpa and Italian grandma and grandma Frisone ( whom is still living in Mass. I think) If you look at Dominic's cop picture and then Google Eric Frisone, who is my half brother, the resemblence is uncanny. I keep finding myself going back to the google pics of grandpa and Enrico, Frank, etc with great awe and curiosity. I see your last name begins with 'K'. Is that for King? I had a person contact me some years ago trying to follow his family tree and apparently "King" is in the mix also. I'd be curious to see what my relationship to Dennis Frisone is also. I wanted to do the but it's quite expensive and I'm just a lowly paramedic so I can't afford it. I showed my dad the pics of Dominic and I can tell he was very touched and mentioned so on Facebook. I really admire you for what you are doing here on the find a grave site. You and Dennis seem to have a passion for keeping people's memories alive. By the way, my full birth name is Micahel Dominic Frisone. God bless you!!!

RE: Matero Question
Nope, no relation. I was walking through a cemetery, came across a couple named "Bessier", and thought the name was interesting. So I researched it further. That led me to Joseph Matero's wife's sister who married a man named Bessier.

RE: Matero Question
Once you start working on the family tree, you never want to stop. Are you related to this Matero family? My connection is through Angelo and his wife Antoinette.

RE: Matero Question
This stuff genealogy is so addicting. I found the Materos through Violet's (Joseph's wife) sister's married name. I found some Esslingers in the cemetery I meander through and thought it was an interesting name. So I made a note to delve further into it.

That was three days ago. I don't think I've gotten off this computer except to sleep. lol

Matero Question
You sent me a message and asked about a Michael Matero on FindAGrave. The 3 Michael's on FindAGrave are not related (that I know of)to the Matero family in the Bethel Cemetery entries. The Joseph that you sent me a link off of did have a brother Michael, but he lived his life in California and is not on FindAGrave. Rich

I found a picture you took of what I think are my great grandparents at assumption cemetery, Andrew & Josephine Pastore. Do you have more information about the headstones or do you just take the pictures? Unfortunately i do not know if it is them or not. The dates look correct but that side of my family I am not too familiar with.
