Again, I thank you muchly for your kind efforts in locating the tombstones for this family....Sheila Acker Dryer, NJ

Thank you so much for locating the Goodwin family headstone. Living in NJ, I didn't think I would ever find Juliann Acker! Sheila Acker Dryer

Thank you so very much for the picture of my 3X great grandparents' grave! They are buried in a common grave because they died within a day of each other of "lung fever" [pneumonia]. They were some of the first settlers of this area, coming from Ohio by boat in 1835. Thomas farmed 120 acres just east of this cemetery.
I live in Texas, my sister in Arizona, and we are meeting next week in Illinois - spending a few days in Chicago then going down to Clinton where we grew up. Of course, we will visit this cemetery, and now I will know exactly what the grave looks like. From others' comments, it looks like Old Cedar Point Cemetery is not in the town of Tonica, as some internet information indicates. Rather, it is just northeast of the village of Cedar Point. Is that correct?

Thank you for taking the time to look and report back about no marker found.
|Memories From The Mist||RE: Tonica Cemetery|
Since you took photos of both divisions of the Old Tonica cemetery (Ashley and Brookside), I won't post any more photos for those 2 cemeteries. :)
Even though there are several sites that have Brookside listed as a separate cemetery, I'm going with the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild and their description of the Old Tonica cemetery.
Consequently, I asked findagrave to merge Brookside and Old Tonica together...to avoid further confusion.
Thank you so much!

Interesting situation...when I started to delve into finding out what cemetery my headstone photos really do belong, I discovered that memorials and photos were added by you that show up in the Old Tonica cemetery but really belong in the Brookside cemetery which is located just across the street from the Old Tonica cemetery. Confusing, isn't it?For example, John C. Vannatta's memorial is showing up in both the Old Tonica cemetery and Brookside. Please let me know what you think so I know where to put my photos. Thank you for your help!
P.S. - I can change the caption on the photo I added for Old Cedar point but I can't delete it when I have to scroll down to see all the photos submitted for the cemetery. I think there's a programming glitch when I'm forced to go to the second page because of all the photos submitted for the cemetery overview....sorry...

I was amazed to see the cemetery in such "good" shape given that it's abandoned. Thanks for the info on directions and taking these pictures. I was interested in a stone for Nathaniel/Susannah Richey, James/Sophia Robinson, and their children, Amanda, Isabel, and William. I assume they had stones but were probably so worn that they were unreadable. By looking at your pictures, I realized I haven't added their names to the cemetery. Thanks so much, Barb
Small world, isn't it!

That would be a super idea!

Thanks for re-checking your photo. I just hate it when there's a stone that one can't read!

I appreciate you looking. I knew it was a long shot. A lot of babies don't have stones. Thank you for trying
