Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Rita June Collvins Mayfield. I was born February 20, 1942 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. I married Vernon Roy Mayfield on April 16, 1971. My primary hobbies are gardening, oil painting, genealogy and of course cemeteries. There is something comforting about strolling through the cemetery and reading the stones. I have recently moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, but have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. Once an Okie, always an Okie. I am slowly trying to get all my family memorialized here. My virtual cemeteries represent my family, unless otherwise noted. I am going to make them public once again, and hope I can leave them without the misuse that occurred previously.

If I have a memorial that is anyone in your family, and is unrelated to me or my husband, I will be glad to hand it over to you as I don't adhere to the 4 generation only guideline, just contact me. I count it a joy and a job well done if I am able to pass on your loved one to you. It is my number two reason for doing this, second only to wishing to save all the old and battered stones from being lost forever. If you find errors on any of the information on my memorials, please get in touch with me with corrections. You are welcome to use my tombstone photos on your family files and family trees, just note where you got it.

Please don't post death certificates or census reports in the picture area on my memorials. They don't belong there and are detrimental to the looks of the memorial, plus it takes up room where photos could be placed.

RE: Samuel
No, I don't mind ... just thought I'd offer. And I LOVE receiving edits. It means someone is seeing the memorial :)

RE: Samuel McElmurray
Rita, I've added the link to Samuel's parents. Would you like me to transfer him to you?

Relationship
Rita, I had no idea that we were related until I saw your tree. Lawson Carpenter was my great great grandfather. His and Sarah's daughter was married to George Washington Taylor (NIcey) who was the grandfather and grandmother of my Dad, Owen Taylor.
I think this is so neat. I am always excited to find a long lost relative. Thanks for allowing me to look at your tree. I will put your name on mine so that you can see it, too.

RE: Nelia
Sorry I didn't send them together. It must have caused you more work. I guess I thought they needed to be separate.
Anyway, I certainly appreciate you taking care of this.
I am probably the only one who looks at this and would make the effort to get it corrected. Don't think any of Delia'a other grandchildren are into Genealogy as I am.
Any, thanks so much for your help.

RE: Mary Delia
I don't know that we have visited about the Carpenter family, but Mary Cordelia was my grandmother so I know she was the twin of Cornelia.
Mary Delia died in Kansas having gone there to meet her twin sister, who lived there at the time, but was buried in AR in the Evening Shade Cemetery with her husband (my grandfather, William Franklin Taylor) in 1975. I suspect that her sister went to CA to live with her children before she died in 1981.
I sure do appreciate your taking care of this. I didn't check to see if her siblings are listed on her gravesite page.
Thank you so much.
