|I got hook on genealogy after talking to my Grandfather (George E. Deskins) about the "Good Old Days" and how he had a story about everyone and everything. I started by researching only wanting to do my immediate family but it has escalated to years of research, meeting wonderful people, hearing amazing stories and with much help from other dedicated researchers. After joining FAG it keeps getting better and better. |
I hope that all of realize that we all are related and should treat everyone the way we want to be treated.
My main research is on all the Deskin, Deskins and Deskines lines, but I also do Jackson and Matney

My name is Jacky Basl, and I'm related to the wife of Larry R. Deskins, Judy. I see where you are checking out all of the Deskins names.In checking out Larry's Find A Grave, I see where there are three of his obits listed. #71329273 &71375599. The first two do not have the cemetery listed and yours does. Researching the name Deskins, I'm sure you knew where Larry is interred. What I'm trying to say is maybe these can be combined into one. I would appreciate any help you can help me with the obits.
Jacky Basl - #46780516
Were you related to Larry and Judy?

1st cousin. Sorry :)
Yes, I do, but I will have a better one next month. The soft rose and black colorations of the stone mess with the engraving. The monument company is going to have suggestions for me and products to use to protect the stone from the staining of oak leaves that lay wet on the stone. The stone says GRADY E. JONES 1913 - 1993
CREMATED IN ARKANSAS.
His son, Jerry, scattered part of his ashes over their farm. The rest, he sent to us to bury at the foot of his Mother's (Marlin) grave. That's a few miles from where he was born. His Father, Willis, is buried with his second wife, Annie, in Wheeler County, Texas.
The couple who have photographed the stones in the Locust Cemetery did a good job considering the conditions of most of the stones. My problem is finding someone to take the picture to that knows how to send a clean copy to them and to you. But, I will send you one. Plus, Marlin's
stone. Her name has been misspelled for almost 60 years, but we grandkids couldn't stand it staying that way after we were gone. So, it was corrected in 2012.

Evelyn Rakes and Grady Earl Jones married in 1938 in Missouri. They always lived in the Bentonville and Rogers, Arkansas area. They had one son, Jerry Earl Jones, who is still living on the home farm. Grady's parents were Marlin Jones Jones (1890 - 1954) and Willis Grover Jones (1887 - 1961). Marlin's maiden name was Jones. Grady was born in Hagerman, Grayson County, Texas. The railroad moved, and the town died. The area is now covered by the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge.
Grady's tombstone is now cleaned and readable. I still have more work to do when I get back up to Grayson County, Texas. Grady's Memorial is #61114522. Marlin's is #61115379. Willis' #34553738.
I clicked on your link to ask why Russell and Helen show as calculated relationships on Martha's page. Sorry I should have wrote down her number - Clinton Cemetary, Douglas Co., KS. Martha was Russell's and Helen's mom. Helen was my mom. Are we related? I would like to know more about your findings for the Deskins family tree. Please contact me, email@example.com. Thanks. Grady was my Mother's brother. Are you somehow related through his wife, Evelyn Rakes' side of the family.
|Emily||Hazel Wooten Deskins|
