Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a dedicated & fanatic family historian & have been on THE QUEST since 1955. I can concentrate on my ancestors but get easily side-tracked by in-laws & the cousins of cousins of cousins, if you know what I mean, & if you love family history as much as I do, then you do know!

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

RE: I see by a flower & note ~
Syd,
I wish I knew about her. We called her Mamie. She was a beautiful lady and I have several very elegant pictures of her. I have searched every where I know and can find nothing. I believe, if my memory serves me right, Mamie had a brother. I cannot recall his name.

Edgar and Mamie had 1 daughter that I know of. Her name was Frances. The last I found on Frances, she was in NY City, but what happened to her we don't know either.
I have heard stories about all of them my whole life but never saw them. The last contact I know of was when my Great Grandfather passed in 1958 and Edgar and Mamie were still living in NY City.
If you are able to locate anything please let me know.
Thanks

RE: Smith Eakes
Thank you. I entered my information from the funeral home and it did not have birth date. I had not checked Tennessean obits today.

Smith Eakes
I will add an obituary for him sometime after the funeral. I did not know him, but have family connections on both side of the Eakes family.

Eva Lunsford Bell
Thank you for your concern but perhaps you can speak with the "Spanky" that contributed the other find a grave, will consider removing or consolidating her find a grave of Eve Lunsford Bell with mine & turn it over to me to maintain. I know that mine is true and correct as she was a very close family member which I personally knew and loved.

Do you know anything about William Handly ? He seems to have been married to sisters. They seem to disappear. Did they die or move ? R.J.

Duplicate Memorial. Thank You.
Hi Syd., Thank you in advising us of a duplicate memorial, which we deleted one. I was not aware we had the duplication.
Thank You in all of your help and " eye to detail" helping us, among others.

Carolyn was hospitalized in September, as I am still under Oncology care for my cancer, we thank you.

Carolyn, has two family members " Price" surnames and
" Beeson" that died in the Los Angeles CA area. She has no idea where they are interred. Any suggestions or help in how we can find their final resting place online?

Everyone she knew, that may have known, now has died.

She joined Newspapers.com to cross reference The Nashville Tennessean and Ancestry to look up online obits for burial information, for example. She found not all newspapers are referenced on that newspaper.com site, yet.

She still cares for her mother, since the death of her father.

Have you had or noticed any issues with this site, getting slower, spam ads pop up knocking us offline...etc?

Your distant cousin,
Marvin
