I became interested in family history in May 2010 when my mother's sister passed away. All three sisters had passed within three years! It made me realize that the older generation was leaving and if I wanted to know more about our family, I better start asking questions! I got very interested in family history and discovered that I really enjoy visiting eastern NC cemeteries, taking pictures of headstones, and figuring out who the people were and if/how they were related to me. I focus on Martin County (my dad's family) and Wilson County (my mom's family).

I am a member of the DAR. John Jackson Morgan Sr of Nash County, NC is the first Revolutionary War patriot I have been able to prove my connection to.

This hobby (obsession?) has been a real blessing in many ways. The best part is meeting relatives I never knew I had, and becoming friends with some of the most wonderful people I've ever known.

RE: Langley King Respess, Grave site
Deborah,

I believe that Langley King Respess was buried in either Beaufort or Washington Counties. He is listed in the 1860 census for Beaufort county. He doesn't appear in the 1870 census.

I am working to expand my inventory of search tools. Is there a link to the cemetery survey that you searched? I found WPA links to cemetery surveys in the 1930s but I didn't see Langley King listed. His son, George Washington Respess, is buried in the Baynor cemetery in Beaufort County. I expected to find Langley there but did not.

I would like to go on a field trips this spring if I can find his and other family grave sites. Langley King is just one of many family members on my list for eastern NC.

My grandfather Thomas Fulcher changed the spelling of the family name to Respass, however, it is still pronounced "Respess".

Regards,

John Respass

Langley King Respess, Grave site
Deborah S.

Thank you again for setting up the Respass portion at the Hamilton NC Cemetery. I'll take good care of it.

Have you come across a gravesite for Langley King Respess?

Langley King Respess was the grandfather of Thomas Fulcher Respass whose gravesite you photographed in Hamilton Cemetery. I suspect that Langley was buried in Beaufort County, NC since he shows up in early 1800 census records for Beaufort, County.

Regards,

John Respass

I just wanted to correct the spelling of Franklin's first name. It is Camillus -- named after his maternal grandfather, Camillus Holly Butler who was called "Holly". Franklin was the son of my grandmother's (Mildred) sister, Mattie and my father's first cousin.

If your not attached to the Wives, sons and daughters i'd be happy to take over if they have no direct family ties otherwise that already are interested.
I really appreciate the help you've given me as well as all you do for all the other families on here looking for their past.

Hi, while I'm the owner of the London gravestones, they aren't actually my relatives. Someone took photographs of my real relatives, and then happened to see the London gravestones, and assumed I was related to them. - Mark
