I became interested in family history in May 2010 when my mother's sister passed away. All three sisters had passed within three years! It made me realize that the older generation was leaving and if I wanted to know more about our family, I better start asking questions! I got very interested in family history and discovered that I really enjoy visiting eastern NC cemeteries, taking pictures of headstones, and figuring out who the people were and if/how they were related to me. I focus on Martin County (my dad's family) and Wilson County (my mom's family).

I am a member of the DAR. John Jackson Morgan Sr of Nash County, NC is the first Revolutionary War patriot I have been able to prove my connection to.

This hobby (obsession?) has been a real blessing in many ways. The best part is meeting relatives I never knew I had, and becoming friends with some of the most wonderful people I've ever known.

If you contact me about a memorial or photo I have added, PLEASE INCLUDE THE MEMORIAL NUMBER.

RE: Ada Summerlin Langley
Thanks! I'm finding it very confusing... I have this marriage record at familysearch.org: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F8QM-YW1
I find it hard to believe that two women in Wilson County, NC named Ada Summerlin both married men named Will Langley... Right?

William Mack Ayers
Found further inforatmion. William's spouse, Maude Virginia Ayers was born in 1891, died July 26, 1923 from malaria at age 32. The youngest child, Robert lester Ayers was borin Oct. 1, 1922 and died August 21, 1923 from measles at age 10 months. Both Maude and Robert Lester are buried in a family plot in the countryside of Martin County. We have differing information on Grandpa Will's father's name. One source says Tom Roberts and another says Tan Rogers. At this point we are unsure.

William Harmon Hopkins
Deborah
Thank you for all the great contributions!
I believe William Harmon Hopkins (b. 1857) to be the son of Luke Hopkins and Elizabeth Lee, based on census and Civil War records. I think they had at least four children... Luke was born c. 1831 in Martin Co. and died in the Civil War. He was captured in the battle at Spotsylvania and died 20 Feb 1865 of disease as a POW in Elmira NY. Elizabeth disappeared.
The children of Luke Hopkins were taken in by his mother-in-law Crissy Lee (widow of William Abraham Lee) and are shown with her in the 1870 census. Julia married Julius Durham Hardison in 1878. William Harmon married Addie Calloway about 1890. Abram married Sally LNU. And Lavina is as yet unaccounted for.
William Harmon Hopkins is my step-father's grandfather.

I keep finding my relatives in your photos
I can not thank you enough! I guess we have lots of relatives in Marsh Swamp Cemetery. We have Davis and Woodard and Thorne, or Thorn in and around Wilson County. I hope to go in summer but until then I am so delighted and appreciative of the pictures you have posted.

RE: John Robert White 1873 - 1932
I found this through death records, the Death Certificates of Sr and Jr make a direct connection, then on Jrs Death Cert. , John R. White III is the informant. He is Buried in Danville Va. There is also Albert C. and John R. Jr In Danville as Barbers on the census record. (Their sister Hattie White Roberson is buried there too) Its a tangle , but it all seems to be there. You have access to my Ancestry tree i think... If you want ill give you links, copies etc of what ever i have you need.

You are correct, he was attached to the wrong father. I have corrected it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! I am always glad to correct anything that is wrong. . . . . and it surely was, wrong.
