A short walk through Trinity Churchyard in 2004 got me interested in older cemeteries. A few years later, I found it difficult to research my family geneology. I started adding names here to maybe help others with their research. I'm also a big Revolutionary War buff and I have been searching for graves of anyone who somehow participated in the Revolutionary War.

You've got my attention!
The Dutch NYC banking family Ann Amos married into was my family, although from my own research, we weren't bankers - we were physicians.

I'd be very interested in some back research on the Van Burens (van Beuren) that you may have to further my understanding of my ancestors on that branch of the tree.

On my 6th GGF, Richard Amos, I'm led to believe that sry likely was pulled into the Culper Ring by his lifelong best friend, George Higday, a Culper spy, for at least one action: the Great Raid.

The calculus that would go into the assessment would be simple: if you're going to stage a prison break, who do you ask to help? Answer: someone you've known your entire life and know won't rat on you "for King and country."

Daniel Amos
yes Richard and Daniel are the sons of Richard ads Elizabeth( Ritter) Amos. I tried since putting data online with City Of Ny Historical records . To get their home parish to at least hang a plaque in recognition of what Richard Sr and Christopher likely did in the War. It is in an old book on The Village that they were " Revolutionary War heroes". Online says they were trustees of Lord Admiral Warren. And that after the war they got all his estate and whatever he didn't take with him back to England. Put the two together I must conclude they were spies not affiliated with Culper. OR involved in some kind of economic sabotage on the British. Tories wouldn't get such a valuable gift if they worked for the losing side. Love to talk with you about this Revolutionary War puzzle around the grave of two kids. A daughter Anna Amos lived to adulthood and married into an old Dutch NYC banking family. .

Richard Amos in Saint Paul s Churchyard
i researched that stone. Based on what s online and the NY Historical Society on 5 th Avenue it is likely his dad and uncle were spies for the Continental Army right under the nose of a Lord a Admiral. Richard Sr and Christopher Amos got all the Lord Admiral s estate( Wrest Village now) after the war. If they were Tories this wouldn't have happened. I tried to give a plaque to the rector of Saint Luke s onChristopherSt to the 2 Vets. Don't know if it was put in the church. The Amos home parish

RE: Edward Lascells
At the cemetery did you look through burial records there, or see a stone for Edward? Thanks for your help.
