Bio Photo Smith's from Nova Scotia

I've been using this site to help with genealogy research on my father's side of the family, the Smith's from Nova Scotia, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Los Angeles and other peppered areas of the world. Other family names include the following as spelled most commonly, ie, there are many variations of these names,,,, Meisel, Fraser, Spelty/Spalty, Moser, Becker, Treffian and many others.

This is the link to my Smith Family Cemetery.

For anyone who thinks they may be related to me, I would start with my father, Henry Richard "Hank" Smith, memorial# 3850186, and you can trace the family from there. Here is a family page website created by a distant relative that lives in Nova Scotia, Canada.;

Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see the family of my paternal grandparents, Sidney & Rose Smith, and then you can take it from there.

Also, here's the Smith Family Tree

Feel free to email me for anything.

RE: Dr. George Silver
You are most welcome.
I owe a big thank you to Clelia McMullan who is one of the staff at Evergreen Cemetery. She located the marker on a map and then drove me to it so I could photograph it.

William and Mary Blackledge
Hi David. This is the couple that are buried next to Alberta Tessie Blackledge McIver. I photographed them today and linked them to Tessie. I was able to find a little information on them on the California Death Index. I hope this information aids in your research.

Take care,

RE: Raymond Dean Landers
I didn't know if he passed when they were young or what happened. I was just told that Raymond adopted the girls when he married Pauline.

I'm curious about the Smith's your researching in Canada and wondered if they might be related to any of my ex husband's family. He had family that came to Los Angeles from Nova Scotia and some of them were Allen's but I think there were Smith's also.]

I've been researching mine and my ex's family trees for our two children since I was pregnant with the first and he is 25! :-) It's been fun and I've met a lot of wonderful people along this journey and discovered amazing information on both sides. I wanted my kids to know their heritage and that on my side their ancestors fought for the south in the Civil War and I've been trying to get my documentation together to become a member of DAR.

The Internet has been a trying blessing because I started with an electric typewriter and those family tree sheets you can get from the Latter Day Saints because mormons are really into family research and please do not think I'm judging them it's just that I heard about the library in Utah, etc. I think it's wonderful.

I will try to find a picture to post of Raymond. I should have made sure I got one when my son was born since he was named after him but Raymond died in 1987 and my son wasn't born until 1989 so he never got to know about his namesake but I tell my son everything I can about him. :-)

Glad to meet you. I think you might be able to help me with some of my ex's family's research and I am willing to share what i have always. Please e-mail me at

RE: Raymond Dean Landers
I remembering hearing about Pauline and her daughters that Ray adopted and I heard he left the girls what he had in his will. I know he worked for some company associated with the space center and traveled a lot. Is Pauline still living? What are her daughters names? I believe one was Sherri ...

RE: Raymond Dean Landers
Thank you so much for correcting that. His sister and her son told me Los Angeles National and he did serve in the Navy but neither of them had been back to take flowers so they were only there for the funeral and that was 1987 so it doesn't surprise me.

Thanks again!

RE: Raymond Dean Landers
I wish I did. I will contact my ex husband and see if he has one. I thought it was odd the Dennis' family didn't have more pictures than than did and also how well his mother. Betty Allen took her little brothers sudden death when it put two of her sons in therapy! I never had the pleasure of meeting him but how i wish I did. I was very proud to name our son after him :-) I will try to get that picture for you.

RE: Charles & Tessie McIver
You're welcome. I think Augustus and Gertrude (next to Charles) are his parents. Also, I think there may be Blackledges buried on the other side of Tessie. I'll have another look the next time I am there.
