My name is Tina. Over the last few years I have come to love researching my ancestry and helping others. I have always been a history buff. My husband Douglass and I both do this together. I could never have imagined how much I loved to do this. I was always scared of cemeteries...now I just find them quiet and comforting and peaceful...filled with people I would have loved to meet!
I would greatly appreciate it if, there is anyone out there, in the areas of Kansas City, MO., Los Angeles, CA, Buffalo, NY and Johnstown, PA that might be willing to look up and see if there are obits in these areas? For some of my descendants. Some things are just not easy to find and cannot be found online. I, would also be willing to do the same. For the Akron, Summit County area. Maybe we can help each other?
My families I am trying to research are In Ohio that settled here in the early 1800s to mid 1800s Harpster, Burwell, Sigler, Longabach or Longabough,Seibert all in Wayne/Ashland Co.& PA . Bossart, Shoup, Palmer, Bell and Peddicord of Blairsville and surrounding areas,PA. Meese, Wagner,McVaddin/McFadden, Penrod, Sommerset,PA area. Zimmerman, Roedal, and Wirth Germany to Johnstown,PA. Baker, Chamberlain and Ruple, Beers, (Stow,OH & East Cleveland, OH).
RE: Shoup Photos Ok I had a thought, can you contact the cemetery its self? Here is why several of my family were returned from other states to be buried at home and the cemetery had a record of which state and place they were shipped from the other thing is those that did not the funeral homes had a record of where they were shipped from that would decrease the search area. I did not limit it to the states mentioned incase they were wrong about that.
Here is what I tried on searches none of which worked: Richard Lee Harpster, Richard, Rich, Dick, R L, Harold F and E (both of which he listed on census) Hearld F and E, Parents, brother, in the years 1941-1942 body of truck driver, dead truck driver, truck driver killed, Possible suicide, Alias Harpster, (it occurred to me he changed his name for legal reasons (bigamy occurred to me since he was a driver though different states, fraud, someone he didn't want to find him, lots of possibilities not all bad...) His head stone had only the year on it I noticed could they have been wrong about the month? It could be I just don't have access to the right papers! Since he woke up outside a tavern with broken bones at least once his death could have been an accident when intoxicated or maybe he was in with the wrong crowd? I think I'll try accidental death next. Sorry no luck so far
RE: Benjamin Chamberlain Standing Rock Cemetery Hi Tina. Glad you found him! Standing Rock is very close to Stow, just in the next city over, and so there is a lot of overlap between families in the Stow Cemetery and Standing Rock. There are other Chamberlains in Standing Rock, but I only manage memorials for a couple and I'm not sure how they all connect. I'd be happy to transfer Benjamin to you, so you can link up parents and other family members and provide some better bio information. Let me know if any others I manage also connect to your work. I'll do that transfer now! *Janice
