I have added these memorials, mostly from the historic cemeteries of Charleston to memorialize all the individuals who have contributed to Charleston's past.

If I don't respond to a request for transfer it means I prefer to retain the memorial.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I just found out yesterday January 21, 2010 that internments of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial in Charleston. There are others who did transcriptions, but I am not aware who they are. If someone knows, I would be glad to acknowledge them in this profile.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

Marble Cemetery records
Dear John,

Thanks for the rapid response. Our records have been on line since 1999 and the Other Cemetery's since about 2001. The problem is that no one expects them to be! Anne

Eliza Revere FAG 100010291
Once again the two Marble Cemeteries have been confused. Both the New York City Marble Cemetery and the New York Marble Cemetery have very complete websites with their burials on line. Please check them carefully before posting Find A Grave burials to either one. and Eliza Revere is buried in the New York City Marble Cemetery, not the New York Marble Cemetery. Someone else had already entered her correctly in the NYCMC. Please delete your listing.

Thank you very much for your cooperation - Anne Brown, Trustee, NYMC

RE: John Farrar
No problem - I'm trying to get through the older requests this summer - there are a lot of newer requests and I don't want these to fall through the cracks. The summer has been great so far - anything is better than all the snow that we got lol Enjoy the rest of the warm days!

Magnolia Cemetry -how to find a grave
my husband and I live in England and currently are researching our rather unusual surname of Titheradge as a one name study. We were rather surprised to find your picture of the grave of Joseph W Titheradge (b 1845 died 7 April 1858 # 65753113) taken in Magnolia cemetery Charleston, as we were unaware any of our ancestors had lived in Charleston. So thank you for the picture, and publishing it on the internet so we can view it.
In just over a weeks time we are visiting the US flying into Washington and driving down to Florida over a 3 week period. By coincidence one of our planned stops is 2 nights in Charleston. Having found your picture and then looked up Magnolia cemetery we have already decided to visit the cemetery because it looks fascinating even without our genealogy connection. I have tried to look on the Internet to see how I can find a map or plan of the cemetery so that we could visit this family grave but without success. Are you able to offer any advice on how we could locate this Titheradge gravestone in this large beautiful cemetery. Thank you for any advice you can offer. kind regards
Ann and Mike Titheradge

Capt William Henry Cross
Would you please consider transferring this memorial to me? He was my great grandfather. I found his obituary this morning and would like to write a biography for him. My # is 12203516. Thank you.
