I maintain the records for the Fraternal and Riverview Cemetery in Chelan.
My project began in 1999 when I found that I enjoyed genealogy so much that I decided to work on my own community. I didn't want to see anyone become lost or forgotten. I've studied the Chelan newspaper on microfilm dating back to 1891, headstone inscriptions, burial permits, receipt books, sexton records, marriage records, death certificates, census records, WA state death index, Social Security Death Index and the Higgins Mortuary records dating from 1900 to 1943 to come up with the most accurate records as possible. My work has included the Fraternal, Riverview, Mt. Olivet, and the Wapato Point cemeteries. I extend all my findings to the Chelan Historical Society, the Chelan Precht Funeral Home and the local cemetery association. I volunteer my time walking local cemeteries to collect information from the stones for the cemeteries that either currently don't have their records in the computer or would like their files updated. I have taken over local memorials for a fallen graver Betty from OR so that the memorials could be updated, edited and linked so her work will go on. If there is any additional information you would like to have added or changed on someone's memorial, please feel free to contact me.
A special thank you to the Findagrave volunteers that help in researching, NWpioneer, colette harrison, Mark Vernon, Jim Childers, Bonnie, Charles Brooks, and good friend ReconnectNow. Well over a thousand photos I've entered were from her hard field work. Research is done by many and has been a large joint effort, thanks to all those that help in preserving history.
I've uploaded nearly 3000 files that were once Scotty's. Thank you Scotty for all your hard work that will continue on for future generations.
