Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired office worker and live in Brandon Manitoba and genealogy has been my main hobby (addiction) for many years. It all started by wandering our local cemetery and noticing so many old headstones - so I started taking photos of them - this led me to "find a grave" and I have entered many of our older stones. This led to another old cemetery in the area (burials prior to 1925), and then out to the smaller towns around Brandon and to many areas of the world where my ancestors had lived. They came from Northern Ireland, England and Scotland.
My family tree is extensive, but my main lines are Montgomery, Barton, Rixon, Bothwell and Nicholson.

May I have some Downings?
Me again :-)

Bertha Annie Downing is a daughter of Abigail Maria (Brooks) Crawford. I uploaded a family photo and, of course, have some details to add. I also added a memorial for Jean Downing, whose marker is in your photo of Bertha & Albert Downing's headstone. I used your photo and gave credit in the notes but if you'd like to re-upload it so your name shows instead of mine, feel free. I'll delete the first copy. It's number 162931647

I'd like to take over:
Bertha Annie Downing: 82198254
Alberta Bruce Downing: 82198119

Hope you're well.

Wonderful! Thank you.

Until that day and if you haven't already, see a movie called "Harold & Maude".

So if it is literally "written in stone", that doesn't necessarily make it right? :-) I'll remember that.

Very sorry to hear about the COPD. I once had the tiniest touch of Bronchitis and wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Take care,
Shaun

Dugald McVicar (# 83141043)
Janet,

On closer examination of the headstone photo, it seems to say "Dougald".

My apologies.

Dugal McVicar (# 83141043)
Janet,

My road leads back to you again! I'll put in a change request for this but I thought I'd tell you my reasoning:

Dugal McVicar (# 83141043) I think, Should be Dougal McVicar. I'm sure that's the name on the headstone you photographed, plus it is the name of the spouse on Mary Ann Bagsley McVicar's death certificate (See # 64302597)

Hope you're well. I'm having a blast with this.

Thank you
I just thought I'd drop you a line and say that I recently found & used one of your photos through a "ancestry hint" on Ancestry.ca. I was quite impressed by the work you do and want you to know how appreciated it is. I am of the Crawford (John & Abigail) clan of Chater, MB and I imagine I'll be coming across more of your photos in the future.

You inspired me to join Findagrave and become a photo volunteer. Thanks for all you do.

Hi I was just reading the info on her memorial page and noticed you have her as "sister of John." She was actually his granddaughter (he was Richard's father.) I don't know if you can correct it but I thought I would let you know. My grandmother was her older half-sister, living in Ontario at the time of the 1911 census.
