THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

WILL AND TESTAMENT

WHEN I DIE I WILL NOT END
THO MY BODY TURNS TO DUST.
I'LL TRAVEL WIDELY THROUGH THE STARS
WITH FEWER CARES, I TRUST.
SO FIND A PLACE TO LAY MY BONES
MY MUSCLE, HAIR, AND SKIN.
THEN PLANT A TREE ATOP MY CHEST
FOR LIFE TO START AGAIN.
LET HER ROOTS ENTWINE MY RIBS
AND TEAR APART MY COFFIN.
IT MATTERS NOT THE LEAST TO ME,
I'LL BE IN HER BRANCHES, LAUGHIN'.
WHEN I'VE PUNCHED MY TIME ON EARTH,
WITH NO MORE NEED OF CLOCKS,
I'LL GO TO FIND THE NEXT NEW ME.
PLANT THIS LAST ME IN A BOX.

RE: Welland Kafton
I don't know about you but for me I would have to have my curiosity to why person is said to be buried in 2 different locations resolved. I have additionally confirmed through Marian that Welland is not buried there in Corinne Cemetery. Utah Archives does put him at that cemetery though or suggests he is at that cemetery. Let me give you link. https://utahdcc.secure.force.com/burials/searchburials?CemeteryName=&DeathDateFrom=&DeathDateTo=&FirstName=Welland&LastName=Kafton This site I think is were confusion may have started. Best I could do in finding source or problem.

RE: Welland Kafton
Yes you are welcome. Just to make sure this is same person. His parents are Alaxander R. and Laura L. . 1940 census living in Malad Election Precinct, Corinne City Utah. If it interest you at all Corinne is really set up as 2 towns. I did find a receipt for the headstone that also confirms your findings. I will call historian tomorrow to additionally confirm for you. So his name can be removed by Find A Grave administrators. If I can do anything else let me know.

Let me call the lady who knows all there is to know or expert for that town and cemetery. She has as many records as are available that have not be taken by flood or fire since the city began. Or if you would like contact my email at time41living@gmail.com and will give your her name and number and you both can sort this out over the phone.

Welland Kafton
Hello My name is Frank. I think I have taken all the photos of existing headstones that were left to take for that cemetery. I will go check again on Tuesday of this coming week of December of 2016. If by change there is no headstone available to take photo of what would you like me to do instead? I had talked to a lady who had done 30 years of research for that cemetery and had brought to my attention of things I didn't know. Such as the cemetery was originally located elsewhere in Corrine, where it is currently located it was at first shaped as a wagon wheel and headstones or markers were made of wood with no fencing. Cattle went through freely in cemetery. Some markers had caught on fire, due to brush fires. If you would like I can give you the name and number of the women who seems to be a living encyclopedia for that town. She may be able to provide you additional leads to family for genealogy purposes.

Thank you for your edit request. I do not add links to burial unknown memorials because the mission statement of Findagrave clearly states that memorials on Find A Grave must fulfill the mission of registration of final disposition. Findagrave does not require us to link to burial unknowns. If you find his mothers burial location in the future I will be happy to revisit your request.

RE: Roy Papke
Hi Jerry, That would be fine with me, I would be glad to update your memorial for Roy and delete the one that I added. Thank you for adding the Father for Arthur, Harry, and Louise. I have found Find A Grave memorials for 3 more of the siblings and have suggested that the Father be added to them also. Best Wishes, Byron
