Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retied law enforcement officer from England and have married my second wife who is from Colorado where we now have made our home.
I am currently a volunteer for both FAG and the local Pueblo Library, The Pueblo Library has an extensive obituary index for local deaths from the Pueblo Chieftain which can be accessed via the library website once on the home page just select search and select Obituary index, the service is free via E mail or a small charge is made if you want a hard copy. We are also developing birth and marriage records which are not available online yet.
I am currently compiling a list of Vets from the Pueblo Area this will be available in the Special, Collections are at the library.

Rawleigh Rhodes death date
Just wondering where you got September as when Rawleigh died? I don't know the exact date, but he was my grandmother's brother and she always talked about how she hated the month of April because both her parents and two brothers died in that month (different years). I always assumed that she was referring to Rawleigh having died in April.

Thank you for "returning my grandfather"
My Last message saying "I Apologize!"
was sent too soon...What I meant to say was that I apologize for giving
You info after you had already done such great
Work. I didn't realize the obit was active already
On the memorial... I am so new to this.

But please know, you have given my family
And I a great gift...
Our Ancestor Back!

Thank you.

I hope to be as helpful a researcher to someone
Someday, as you have been to me now.

I also thank anybody else who might have helped
With this. This is a moment of joy for me.

Some added info on my part
Dear Vaughan,

I just realized that a few facts I do know may
Interest/help you. Without getting too specific,
The Manville I'm looking for was born in Karnes County
Texas, and San Antonio Texas figures Prominently in his life.

His Father's first name was John Simpson.
His mother's
First name was Allie or Alice, last initial C.

His first wife (my grandmother) was Elsie. They
Were married at the time of the
1930's Census, but apparently
Living separately by the 1940 Census.
He May have already remarried by then.

Elsie And Manville had 3 sons. I don't want to hand out
My whole history,I don't know how safe that is.

Their sons initials are
M., B., and J. (Simpson)

I don't know if they would be listed in an obituary
Or not.

I know my grandfather had remarried once, am not sure
About twice.

I had heard he might have had children with
A wife other than my grandma, but might be mistaken.

I hope I am not boring/troubling you with
All of this, you have been so kind!

RE: New Information.
Dear Vaughan,

Wow! This is kind of exciting for me.

I Tracked down some Census records.
In 1930, he and my grandma are living together
With their kids, in 1940's Census, grandma is listed in her father's Household in my Texas hometown.

A Manville Simpson is listed in the 1940's
Census, same city in Texas, as living with a
Bernice and another male with the initials O.
T... I don't have my notes right now to be
Sure of the spelling.

These names had popped up once before, in my
Research and I had thought my searches were picking
Up on another man's info. But that's because
I was working with a faulty timetable.

If nothing else, I have discovered
My grandma separated from my grandfather
Several years earlier than I thought she had.

Thank you for your help...

RE: Do you know...
Dear Sir...

The man in question MIGHT be my grandfather!

I can't be sure, he might have been remarried
By 1940 Census, I was never lead to believe
This. It seems he WAS in the Army, though.
And I haven't run into any other adult
Manville Simpsons running around in other Texas
Records of the era since I have been looking...

I would be grateful if you could email me a copy
Of his obituary if you find it, or if I can make
Arrangements to see it online somehow. I might
Be able to mail you a self addressed stamped envelope,
If that would help, if you come across records
And it turns out he is my grandfather.

Even if none of this works out, thank you for
The awesome work you do as a volunteer here.
My health isn't good right now, but I am starting
To think I might be able to look some local
Graves up and submit them. At least the family
Members in San Antonio I can track down.

Thank you...

Do you know...
Dear Sir,

Do you have any further information on a
Manville D Simpson, b 1909 or 1910,
WWII veteran? You showed a picture of a
Headstone.... I think this may be a rare lead
For me on my paternal grandfather. I'm
Not sure if it's him or not. Kind of a sad story.
If you could tell me if info like where he was
Born was, I'd appreciate it. The man I'm
Looking for was born in Texas, lived in San
Antonio for a while. His name was Manville
Dewey Simpson, but he went under Dewey
Simpson, M. D. Simpson, and several
Other names.

Thank you...
