I love the findagrave website. It is the most wonderful way to preserve the memory of our ancestors. I have spent alot of time in the cemeteries and truly have enjoyed photographing the gravestones of my family. My roots are in Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky as well as Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee and East Texas. I think I could actually travel the whole USA searching for the cemeteries of my ancestors! My goal is to someday come full circle and meet them all in Heaven.
Robert Reed 1793 I have a very close Y DNA match to Robert Reed which gives a very high probability of being a close relative. If there are any direct male descendants of Robert Reed then their Y DNA should match mine. My family goes back to James Read 1675 in Ireland.
Restoration is in full force and under way in the Mullings Family Cemetery, and you are correct, it was in total shambles between the cows that roamed freely into the cemetery and vandals that took care of the rest. My friends, Burl and April Brooks, are heading the efforts to reclaim the cemetery, with full blessings of the property owner. They have done wonders with it already but much more needs to be done. We are looking for a "master list" if you will, of the known burials there. So far, we have been able to place 29 interments, but don't know who or if we are missing more. By the amount of headstone remnants and broken pieces, it's incredibly hard to tell.
Thank you very much for this information, and I'll see if I can track down volume 3!
This man is the one to thank and is responsible for the restoration and reclaiming of the Mullings Family Cemetery ~
Burl Brooks (#46850771)
He, his wife, and volunteers have gone out and are cleaning everything up, finding and piecing together the headstones and plans are in the works to make this abandoned family cemetery back to honoring the veterans and people interred there.
Since I live in Colorado, I haven't taken any photographs, but have contributed in finding information.
I know you originally transcribed those interred there from a list? Where did you find it?
