You're very welcome. I am glad that I was able to find his headstone. You were instrumental in helping me locate it.

3 Boston area artists were hired to
illustrate "Life on the Mississippi" written
by Samuel Clemens. One of those artists was
Augustus B Shute.

Augustus Shute
I did notice the census and Death record for
Augustus. I told myself that I should say
something about this and never did!
Ken Clark, who requested the photo and sent
you an edit about his birth said this:
My cousin, Carro Clark, published books in Boston in the first decade of the twentieth century. Augustus B. Shute, the artist, drew for two of the books. He was a very successful and highly respected artist when he lived down in Brookline, MA. He illustrated the 1892 re-release of Moby Dick and also drew for Mark Twain's 1883 Life on the Mississippi. He was the real deal. It's always so interesting to see the stories behind the graves. Thanks for this info.

All the best,
