|I have a passion for anything old; antiques, histories of old communities, and especially old cemeteries. The more I photograph and transcribe them, mainly in Nevada County, California, the more I learn about the people. That is what is most fascinating to me. I have a Bachelors Degree in History and hope to continue to photograph the old headstones for many years to come. I believe in preserving the old cemeteries and documenting the markers left by old pioneers.|

Hi Kat, Thank you for your response. I did put a request in for a photo on the site too. I was able to change his birth date. Thanks again Mary

Memorial # 126921333 I recently submitted a request to you and also find a grave. The photo request for find a grave was returned undeliverable. I would like to know if Daniel Doyle has a grave marker?
Thank you, Mary Gallagher

My Great Grandmother was married briefly to Daniel Doyle. I would like to know if you could find any photographs of him or direct me to where I can. Sincerely, Mary Gallagher

If you know how to take over the Grave Memorial, you can then add what you want. I've been trying to get over there to retake the photo. The cemetery is very over grown. I've gone out a couple of times and tried to clean up some with a friend. We're only good for working for about 2 hours when we go. Our bodies tire out. Am trying to get a younger friend to go with me and bring a chain saw and a weedeater. If you don't want to take over the memorial, send me the paper or information and I will be happy to put it on. Keep up the good work.

Hi Kat.. After re-reading your initial response.. I noticed that you had mentioned North San Juan Cemetery which sparked something.. so I checked the written family history that has been handed down to me and saw that Hannah's neice, "Minerva H. Benton" (Henrietta's daughter) had died in 'Sanwan, California' and I can only assume that whomever wrote the information must have surely meant 'San Juan'. The only other information that I have on Minerva was that she was born 6 July 1863/65 and died 10 Aug 1865. She is the only child of Henrietta's 7 children that I've been unable to locate. I've been periodically checking the find a grave site to see if she has been found and entered but no such luck after 2 yrs of checking. Do you think you could check your photo records to see if you by chance photographed a marker for her?? I realize the odds are slim of finding a baby marker from that long ago, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if you had any information regarding a Benton grave in that area..
Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated!!

Thanks very much about the additional information. I have added it to his memorial.

Thank you so much for your response and all of the valuable information you've passed on to me. According to his wife Hannnah's obiturary, Martin died in 1891 in Cherokee, Nevada County and then Hannah and the children moved to Nevada City after his death. Hannah, my great grand aunt, eventually ended up back in Ohio with her sister, my great grandmother, Henrietta Benton. Hannah lived out the rest of her years in Ohio & Michigan with the Bentons. I've been able to locate her sons, Walter C & Lester in Arizona, as well as a few of Walter's children who died as infants and were buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada County. That is why I thought perhaps Martin was also buried at Pine Grove, since that's where I found his grandchildren.
I figured you would be the person to ask since you were the photographer for the majority of the markers at that cemetery & many others thru out the county. Unfortunately, I have to conduct all of my research online & am unable to visit the History Library you mentioned as I live in Ohio. So please know, that I am extremely appreciative of folks like you who go above and beyond in your service to this site.
Thank you so much for your efforts..
THANKS, Kat!! Received notice memorial was transferred!! "CousinshuntII"
