Hello, my name is Mark Douglas Browning and I recently moved from Tucson, Arizona to Dallas, Texas... and back to Tucson again!|
I was born in Kentucky, and have lived in many other states across the U.S. including: New York, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and Arizona.
My ancestors migrated to America from Germany, East Prussia, South Wales, England, and Ireland. Some of these ancestors married Native Americans (Chickasaw and Cherokee). My paternal great grandfather was a Shupe/Shoop from Southwestern Virginia.
I descend from the Gross, Cooper, Brock, Simpson, Saylor and Salyer families of Harlan County, Kentucky as well as the Griffith family of Whitley and Bell County, Kentucky on my maternal grandmother's side. My Cooper and Evans families were originally from Campbell and Union County, Tennessee before moving to Harlan County, Kentucky.
I descend from the Carby and Hunt families of Grayson, Hardin, and Hart Counties in Kentucky as well as the Muss, Hopewell, and Foster families of Bullitt County, Kentucky on my maternal grandfather's side.
I descend from the Craig and Delk families of Whitley County, Kentucky and Campbell County, Tennessee; the Craig and Williams families of Union County, Tennessee; the Fox family of Campbell County, Tennessee and Whitley County, Kentucky; and the Lawson family of Whitley County, Kentucky on my paternal grandmother's side.
I descend from the Shupe/Shoop family of Wythe County, Grayson County, Scott County and Wise County, Virginia; The Browning family of Russell County, Virginia, then Lee County, Virginia, then Hawkins County, Tennessee and later Scott County and Wise County, Virginia and even later Harlan County, Kentucky; and the Looney family of Hawkins County, Tennessee on my paternal grandfather's side.
Books I have authored:
The Descendants of John Muss & Elizabeth Ceise

Update happily made. Hope all is well with you!
No THANK YOU! Mark I wish more contributors were like you about edits and links! you are incredible! You are so conscientious and kind! I am sure much appreciated by many.

Ferguson Shupe and Catherine Lanter are to parents of Granville Mitchell Shupe Sr and the Grandparents of Alfred Winfield Shupe. You just joined these to relatives with a link in Find A Grave. Granville was married to Ruth Evaline Ford who is the Daughter of Henry Ford and Ruth Elizabeth Speer. Henry and Ruth are my Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother. Ruth Elizabeth Speer Ford is the daughter of Joshua Speer Sr. and Ruth Vanderveer. They are my Great Great Great Grandparents. So everyone (Shupes)connected thru this link are my Kin along with all the other familes daughters might have married into. Turns out that if you have a ford Connection or a Speer connection in Scott county, relatives are to numerous to count. They have touched just about every family in Scott since they settled there from North Carolina in the late 1790s to early 1810's. Scott county didn't exist as a county when they first settled there. The entire area was Lee County.
Hi Mark, thanks for adding the information. I find it so interesting to read history of these people. And maybe the extra details will help someone searching in the future. You are so FAST! Some contributors do not fill SAC's at all, let alone tell you they made updates! You are always great! thank you!

Thank you so very much for the transfer and for not deleting your photo. I was confused, I was thinking it wouldn't let me request a new one because there was already a headstone photo on it but that's only when there is a current photo request pending.
Thanks again for your transfer and for your time in volunteering with findagrave.com

Thank you Mark so very much. Whenever we see that we may be able to add info to something special such as a war veteran we try to help.

It is always a pleasure to take the photo of a Veteran's marker.
