I enjoy genealogy, and I hope this can help some other family members who decide to indulge in this hobby. I was born in Philadelphia, PA and I enjoy the fact that I am able to assist others in finding lost relatives in doing their genealogy research. Happy hunting!!|

But there was nearly $1.2 million to benefit the families of the fallen firefighters. Plus $100,000 from Leary Firefighters Foundation. And The store owner set up an Education Scholarship for the 7 Firefighters children.
Why didn't Charleston pay for all nine headstones? OR the State?
The headstone that looks homemade is so sad. Also the lack of maintenance on one grave is horrific.

You commented on James Drayton’s headstone:
“You would think this individual would have received a better headstone, what a shame"

Check out these other Fire Officers that died in the same Furniture Store Fire:
Rodney Bradford “Brad” Baity Find A Grave Memorial # 19977196
Mark Wesley Kelsey Find A Grave Memorial # 19977182
Why do some of the 9 Firefighters have elaborate headstones and other have nothing or basic?

Only if you want....thanks so much for helping.

I just discovered a Vietnam KIA who is buried in New Cathedral Cem. I see that you have taken photos there. If it is convienent, next time you are there could you please help me out. His # is 146558212, and I called and got his burial location. Your findagrave contributions are so wonderful. My need for Gerald's stone, helps me complete a memorial book for the men who survived in his Company during the Vietnam Era. Gerald has another memorial which has not been updated to include the cemetery, but I plan to ask for a merge after I get the stone photo. If he is buried ext to parents or other Maguires, please advise.
Thanks so much for any help you can give.

Mr. Bell I am requesting a transfer of the memorial for Captain John Martin in Camden, South Carolina. He is my maternal 8th great grandfather and I have a lot of information I could add to his memorial. Thank you.

Hi Mike, I had not heard back from you concerning the transfer of my Father in laws Max Albert Dick's memorial to myself. As you can see I went ahead and added his grave marker. I hope in the future you will consider transferring his memorial. I have several other bits of information to add, plus pictures. I also wanted to let you know where his death was. It was at his home in Gloucester VA. Thanks John Ainsworth
Thanks for the reply. Grace
