I am Kerry Elkins. I live in Oregon with my wife Joyce. I'm retired. I have been busy on the family trees of my side (Elkins, Monroe, Stansbury, Patchin, Usher, Satterwhite, Hallum and Woody) plus my wife's Fulton, Pence, & Braidwood trees. I grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and have many of the funeral home burial records.|
STRANGERS IN A BOX
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where or when,
These faces of my heritage would
come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of pictures we take today?
The faces and memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories.
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

As soon as I saw the words, I understood where it would go! It is a common experience many of us share...Thank you for including. I will be including it in the history of my grandparents. The anonymous should have included a name! So nicely done!! Thank you for sharing...
|Peggy Godown||Nora B Johnson's husband|
Thank you for your dedication to finding and preserving family records.
Nora B Johnson was married to my paternal great grandfather's brother, Alonzo Delos Patchin (A D Patchin) who was married a few times. One of his wives was Nora B Johnson.
I, too, have had no success in finding his burial place.
Thank you, again, and please keep up your great work.
Peggy Godown Schmidt
PS Who are the two other people in the photo with Nora?

|T. Cox||"Frank" Callaway Elkins|
Hello from your cousin in Texas ...
I have questions (dozens of them in fact) about "Frank" Callaway Elkins and his Kansas family...
Would you be so kind as to honor me with a conversation on this interesting most wing of our common family.

|Julia McCormack||You're so WONDERFUL!|
Thank you so much! For years I've tried to prove my grandmother was the daughter of Lida B. Cowgill and Wm. Dallam Lee.
I don't know what else to say except "THANK YOU" again.

Good Morning Kerry,
I am glad to transfer BOTH Jeremiah and Elizabeth to you. I hope you are able to fill in more bio info that we have from her Alabama family. I love Personal Photos, so if you ever get one, I would love to see them.
Take care, Pam Smith and her son Norman Satterwhite.
