Portland, Rideau Lakes Twp., Leeds County, Ontario, Canada|
I've been working on my wife's and my ancestry for a few years now. The majority of my memorials are in our backgrounds, however if related or not, I feel the more research done, and information provided to each memorial, as well as linking family members, the greater benefit it is to the next person researching.
Please feel free to use any of my photos, I am not looking for recognition. They have been taken to assist others.
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone.
The names and the dates are chiselled out
on polished marble stone.
It reaches out to all that care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Not entirely on our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you.

|Kevin Best||RE: Best Family Halliday Burial|
As I mentioned Joseph Best came to Brockville in about 1810. He married Catherine Mallon and had the following children Joseph Jr, Rose Jane, Charles, Edward John and Elizabeth, He was originally from County Armagh.

I saw your note that you mostly work on memorials for people who are in your family tree. I also see a lot of Best's and I was wondering if in fact you are related to the Best's or not. My family comes from the Leeds and Grenville area after moving to Canada from Northern Ireland. I look forward to your response.

You're quite welcome. It was a beautiful day to be there.
|JAS||RE: Dowsett's at Lake of The Woods Cemetery|
It is very frustrating when the memorial is tied to someone and they do not respond for a request for a transfer! Did you lodge a complaint? (I see a number of people are very unhappy with a2!)
If you need a higher resolution photo I have it and I can also do lookups for obits in our local newspaper if you need them once I have death dates. If you don't have the exact date I can get interment dates from the cemetery.

|Laurie Stewart Tokarsky||The Matthews in Lakeport|
I know, I am slow, but I have transfered the Matthews to you. You are now in charge.
If you know someone who can photograph all the gravestones in the Lakeport Cemetery, please please have them do this !!!!
Sincerely, Laurie Stewart Tokarsky # 47375347

It was my pleasure.
If I saw it right, I think that you have 2 others near me at Salem Cemetery, also.
I'll get those during the next week or so, as well.
Cheers from Castleton,

Yes they were very overgrown, I managed to clear one of them, but I am afraid that the Charles & Martha one was impossible:
Hope they are of some use to you:
You may use them as you see fit:

|Melinda||Transfer of Margaret Fitzgerald's Memorial Page|
Thank you so very much for taking the time to photograph Margaret and James's headstone, and transferring them to me, as well! I appreciate all the corrections you had to make!
They aren't related to me :( but that's alright with me, I will take good care of their memorial pages. My 2nd great grandfather was named James Fitzgerald, born in Toronto around 1845. My research has come to a dead end with him, no luck in finding his parents, but on 2 Census records he stated both parents were born in Canada. I'm just taking a guess that his father's name was also 'James', as my great grandfather and grandfather were also named James. I requested a photo of the headstone out of curiosity...
Thank you, again, Ron! I very much appreciate all your effort!
