Bio and Links
Bio Photo I believe this site is an amazing way to help keep our ancestors memory alive. Without the help of other Find A Grave volunteers I would never have found family members that had long ago been hidden away in different cemeteries across this nation. I am so very thankful for all those who took the time to help me and so hope to return the same courtesy onto others.

If you come across a family member (that is not related to me) that I have entered into Find a Grave please just provide me with the proper info so I can transfer it to you.

RE: McKillops
All my McKillop's are in Chicago and Ireland. No McKillop connections in Michigan that I'm aware of. My line starts with James McKillop & Maria Sheridan. They had 9 children and two of their sons, Alexander & Samuel are in Chicago. Alexander and his wife Mary Ann McHenry is the line my mother-in-law descends from. I have not researched the other 7 children.

RE: McKillop
My husband's Mother was a McKillop. I have not been able to make a connection to Mary McKillop (buried at Mt. Olivet) to her line. I do not have a Jane in my data base and do not know if William & Mary had a daughter Jane. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Katherine (Kathi) White
Ely in Lancaster, New York
Greetings,
I noticed you had an interest in this family. I am transcribing and photo-documenting the older sections of Lancaster Rural cemetery in Erie County, New York and have added 3 or 4 more Ely's in the last month or so. Most notably, Mary Ann Ely who I literally uncovered today. I believe there are still a dozen more without memorials scattered throughout the cemetery (10,000 burials or thereabouts). Kathi

Edgar Decker
I noticed that you don't have the death and birth dates for Edgar Decker. I have the page 42 and 43 copied from the "Bellevue Riverside Cemetery" records which contain the Decker stats.

Edgar J. Decker
born 1865
died 7-5-1934
lot 4C-88-3

He was buried in the Riverside Cemetery, but since there is no signage outside of the cemetery when the first person who setup the Find A Grave site didn't know it's real name and labeled they it "Bellevue." Indeed many of the locals do call it the Bellevue Cemetery, the Liberian tells me. But those in the know call it the Riverside Cemetery. The Bellevue Historical Society maintains the book about the interments in the cemetery and keep a copy in the library. It is now, I think, being updated for the years 2000-2010.

Diggin for one
Edwin B Ely
Hello:

Thank you for the additional information to include on his memorial. Just to verify, his middle name was Becksmith and his father's was Beckwith?

Are you also from an "Ely" line?. I have hit a brick wall with mine. They also were from New York, New York City and moved to Michigan between 1860-1870.

Sincerely

Rann

Richard Decker Information
I am sorry to add another message to your list, however, I noticed that only two people with the surname Decker listed in the Riverside Cemetery (aka Bellevue Cemetery) "Birth, Death, and Burials" were not in Find A Grave. I am going to add them tonight and if you wish me to turn them over to you let me know. I can't see any way they can possible be related to me.

You can call the library at 267-763-3369 to verify my information. They do free phone checks on the above book. Sometimes I get things mixed up... And I always try to verify things any way.

Herbert, Lila, and Amanda's Memorial photo's
I bet you will like to know that I found their stones today and took their pictures. But I have a technical problem with my camera. I can't get them out of it. ;) I forgot to put the disk in it. So I'll up load the picture today when I figure out how to do it or wait until tomorrow and shoot it again with the disk IN my camera.

It looks like you have lots of information on Herbert, Lila and Amanda already. There was very little extra information in the book I used to find the plot information on Herbert. Herbert was not buried at the place where they said he was and it was accident I found him. Your lucky I found him.

If I find any extra information you don't already have I'll let you know.

And so it goes...

Decker et al
Hi!
I just visited the Bellevue Cemetery. It's really a large cemetery considering how small Bellevue is. They have two traffic lights, but one is a blinker. It is wonderfully taken care and the rear end has a wonderful view.
Now on to the bad part... I took my camera, but I didn't put the disk back into it last night after I downloaded some pictures into my computer. I also had no idea where to start looking for any one's ancestors since the cemetery is so large. (There are now 17 requests on my list.) So I decided to find the township clerk or whoever it is that takes care of the plot. So I headed back downtown which was of course just two lights away and discovered that the township hall is only opened only on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00am to 2:00pm so I'll have to go back next week for help. (I wonder what people do who work during the day and have business with the township?)
Some people who made requests were able to me give their plot information, but it won't do me any good to have the information when I don't have the plot itself and I don't. I'll try to find it on line but I may not find it I know some of you have been waiting since May. I'm very sorry about that. I've been in that position, too, and I know how it feels.
So please hold your hopes (horses, really, but I love to mix up my metaphors!) until next week.
One last thing, about 11 miles from Bellevue is the county seat which has an active genealogy society, The Charlotte County Genealogy Society. They do look ups. I don't know if they charge. Their hours are from 10 am to 2 am from Monday to Thursday. (Does that sound semi-familiar?) The Society has been working on digitizing all of the old record that were left behind in the old courthouse after the new court was built. My favorite is payments for black bird's wings. Their telephone number is 517-542-9792 and their web site is http://www.miegs.org/. They also have a cemetery data base for Eaton County at http://www.miegs.org/CemeteryIndex/ListAllRecords.pdf which includes Riverside Cemetery AKA Bellevue Cemetery which makes one wonder what is the correct name for the cemetery.
Thank you very much for reading this poor excuse for communicating…

P.S. Charlotte has at least 6 traffic lights and more blinkers than 6, I think. Plus, there are many restaurants and two nice rather new motels. So it would be a good place to stay while you are checking out your ancestors.

Nancy Hart
Nye-Lakeview
I also posted Florence Nye Parker d. 1891 & her husband Richard Parker d. 1919. They were in the same plot.
