I am more than happy to correct or even transfer family members according to Find A Grave guidlines. Please submit any transfer requests, additions, corrections, biographies, or family links to me under "EDIT" and "SUGGEST A CORRECTION" on the memorial site. |
My family names are Ward, Angle, Lindsey, Warren, Coleman, Yeaman, Richardson,Dowdy and Stickley.
My husband's family is Fleming and Grable
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear."
To quote Abraham Lincoln "And in the end, its not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
"To forget one's ancestors is
to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root."
"Life should not be just a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming woo hoo what a ride!"

I think I saw the cemetery up there near the corner of Kay and Franklin on Google Maps. Do you know by chance know where the Old Portlock House is? Supposedly the cemetery was on the property.

I was perusing findagrave.com and came across the Portlock Cemetery you added. Do you have a street address for this? My Portlock family goes back at least to the mid 17th century after getting land grants in the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River. I read about the Old Portlock House and this cemetery. Just wanted to find out where it was so I can Google Map it and see what it looks like.

Really appreciate the confirmation. This looks to be the plot of his maternal grandparents.

I am so sorry. Thank you much for undoing it.
|Louis Mosier||Margaret Stanton, West Point Cemetery|
I just read an article in the Virginian-Pilot this AM that Margaret Stanton (# 100838198), who is buried in West Point Cemetery and whose memorial page was created by you, is the daughter of Solomon Northup, the subject of the current movie "12 Years a Slave." I left a brief note on Margaret's memorial page. Thought you might be interested.
Lou Mosier (Chesapeake)
PS That movie is great; intense but a story that needs to be told.
|T Boggs||RE: Teets|
Thank you for the pictures added. I will correct Nancy Teets birth date. Elmwood is one of the most interesting cemeteries I have ever been to.

|Carrie for Charles E. Tatem||RE: Fanny Morris|
Aahhh. I didn't see that. I didn't know that it was unmarked. Thank you for posting the picture and the information.
|Carrie for Charles E. Tatem||Fanny Tatem Morris # 52898202|
Hi Thank you for posting a picture, but I am a bit confused. The headstone is for Maryee Page Morris (??) Not Fanny May Tatem Morris.
Thank you for linking Rogers & Oliver Kessing to their esteemed father, CMDR Oliver Owen Kessing, Jr. so promptly. I am also pleased that you added Oliver III's middle name as requested.
