On the memorial for Dan you mention you are looking for his hometown burial. He is located in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Colorado. Find A Grave Memorial# 146590516 (created in May of this year).

I visited the plot today. They have removed all the flowers. He is in the New Veterans Section Space #46.
Please let me know when the stone is in place and I will return for a photo.

Happy to help. I knew the family and visit that cemetery about every year.

Once ordered, VA headstones take about 8 weeks to arrive. VA standard is have the headstone installed within 10 calendar days of receipt. I would expect LCDR Ashall's "In Memory of" headstone to arrive at Yellowstone National Cemetery about mid-Nov.

You're very welcome. I believe my dad mentioned he knew Larry growing up.

Thanks Eddieb. My American Legion post has a new commander now. Maybe he can help. The last one totally ignored my request for help.

I should have mentioned in my previous message that I have visited the letter Denny wrote home from 'Nam to his parents, which is engraved on a column near the courthouse in Columbus Indiana. I also understand the gravestone his brother Gary commissioned is somewhere in Columbus, but I don't know where

Thank you for your info on Denny. I am his first cousin (our mothers were sisters). I am a US Navy veteran, serving from July 1961 to July 1965 at Great Lakes Naval Station, Illinois, and on board the USS Epperson, DD-719, home ported in Pearl Harbor.
I was in contact with Denny's sister Angela several years ago, and was trying to get her to help me get her to help me get him enrolled in the Purple Heart Hall of Fame, but she was uncooperative, saying it was too painful for her. I needed an immediate family member to write a letter authorizing me to access his military records, but she wouldn't do it. I also emailed his brother in Guam, who is also a Navy vet, but he didn't even reply to my email. I would still like to do this. Do you have any suggestions? I hope to hear from you.
