A Texan's family tree is like a beautiful rose with many fragrant petals, but with any rose, you have thorny branches that needs pruning on occasion....the same goes with families.
Beatitudes of the Family Genealogists:

Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time. Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof. Blessed are the grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this our heritage. Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For some, this is their only link to the past. Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember. Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them who owe the family history. Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love. Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."written by Unknown;

I also try very hard not to 'duplicate', but every now and again, one get's through. Please know that it wasn't intentional. If you'll let me know, I'll delete them.

#43828904 Lidia Jane Uptygrove
I was just wondering if you might add the additional spellings for the Uptigrove /Uptegrove name in your listing for Lidia Jane? She was a sister to my ggg grandfather that was not in the home in the 1850 listing for the census that you mentioned on her memorial. Frank was already in his own home at that time and I am trying to connect this family together.
When doing a general search for the Uptigrove name and all it's variable spellings it is hard to find all the children of Elijah and Lydia Collins /Collings Uptigrove /Uptegrove and so forth. Do you think this might help to show the connections? I have seen this name in about 10 or more different variations using every vowel known.
When you have time I would love to know what you think about trying to simplify this family if it can be done. Thanks!

RE: Nancy Gordan Dortch Camp
James Daniel Camp, 2nd husband of Nancy Gordan Dortch, is the one I researched. I have nothing other than census records (1840-1860) and the Find A Grave memorial on Newman J. Dortch. Sorry I can't help you. Good luck, Pat

RE: Hamill Family
Hi, Nancy,
I could only open one of the papers you sent. I don't think the pension papers belong to my James Hamill. My James wife was Mary Jane and they called her Molly. The one you found was filed in New York and I think mine would have filed in Texas.
I guess it will have to remain a mystery for now. If you ever run across anything on my line please let me know. Thanks for trying.. Nina

Mary A.E. Johnston
Nancy, I'd appreciate your assistance solving a mystery ... a duplicate it seems. What I want to learn is whether Mary A. E. Johnston is buried in Grassdale Cem., Wheatherford, Parker Co. # 13719608 created by you 24 Mar 2006 or in Grassdale Cemetery, Palo Pinto Co. #106438237 created by D. Stewart 9 Mar 2013. Any light you could shed would be appreciated.

Hamill Family
Nancy, According to Joseph Wesley Harvey Hamill's diary, Seletha Jane and Martha Louisana Hamill are buried in the Pineforest Cemetery, Hopkins County, Tx. I believe that their brother James O. and his wife Mary Jane Hamill are there also but have never found tombstones for any of them.

Al Robinson
Redwine Family Information
Hello, my name is Al Robinson and I am doing research on the Jacob Redwine Family that we find in the Southeastern part of the United States.

I am the one that created the Rowena Redwine profile page on back in 2001… fifteen years ago.

If you have any information or any old photos of Redwines, Carrolls, Griggs, etc…please let me know.
Also, my Great Grandfather, Charles Thomas Griggs married an Ida Faulk in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.
I am quite good on Adobe Photoshop and, if I have time, I can restore old photos… for no charge.
Thank you!

Sharren Formby
Michael Formby
Michael Formby was born about 1654 in Formby, Lancashire, England and Died about 1710 near West Point, Virginia. His burial location is not known, however is is somewhere around West Point, Virginia. Michael married about 1670 to an unknown lady and she gave birth to only one known child Nicholas Gunn Formby Sr.

Michael Formby is the 3rd child of Richard Formby LOM (Lord of the Manor) and Ann Hesketh. He had 8 siblings, in birth order, James, Nicholas, Richard, Elizabeth, Thomas, Alice, Jane, and Ann.

Michael and 3 of his brothers, James, Nicholas, and Thomas left England for the New World. History records only show two, Michael and Nicholas, landing in the US near West Point in Virginia. Both made their homes near West Point. It is said that Michael named his only son after his brother Nicholas.

The Formby family pedigree at one time stated that Michael died DSP (Without Male Heir). In 1923 Rev. Joseph Davis Fomby, Find A Grave # 81777765, began to correspond with John Formby LOM, to correct the Formby Pedigree and show Michal Formby as having a son and male heir. The letters continued back and forth until the death of John Formby. John Frederick Lonsdale Formby became LOM and continued the dialog with Rev. Joseph Fomby of the US. Finally on 28 Apr 1923 the Formby Family Pedigree was amended to state that Michael Formby was no longer considered DSP but indeed did have a son and heir. Thus the original Formby line in the US can trace its linage back to the Formby family of Formby Manor.

Not all Formbys in the US are from Michael as many new Formbys have come from England and made their homes in the US.

I hope this helps. I made it as short as possible, and still kept the facts. If you have any questions please just ask.
