Please do not use my personal photos or the bios on my memorials unless you ask first. I've researched and written all the information included on these memorials, some information is not included on any document found at Ancestry.
Copy and pasting is not researching!
I've been researching my family genealogy for over 20 years and love doing it.
Most of the memorials I've added are family.
I've also added some Scotland's Comonwealth War Dead, my interest stems from a great uncle that died in WWI. I found his record in the CWGC.
Transfer gladly done if they're not my family. Or will add any info or links you may have. If anyone has any corrections or info to add on any of my memorials, I'd also be happy to add it.
If you are also searching these surnames I'd love to hear from you. I'm always willing to share factual information.
Barry, Brown, Burns, Criner, Davitt, Dilts, Eagens, Fanning, Gilmartin, Griffin, Hall, King, Kirk, McCaslin/McCauslan/McAusland, McCathon, McCormick, O'Donnell, Savage, Smith, Tague, Thompson, Westerman.

I was wondering why both of their memorials don't show that they were married to each other?
|JimmyX||RE: Scotland Cemetery photos|
For the record, this is a relative of mine, my great uncle. The photos were taken by a friend who lives closer to the graveyard than I do.
I can't tell if the photos are ok as they have always looked fine on my Mac. I hope they do.

I stopped by the Middlesex Presbyterian Church Cemetery yesterday. I walked from one end to the other. I found many markers for Browns but none of the ones that you are looking for. There are numerous stones that have eroded and are totally unreadable throughout the cemetery.
I'm really not in that area ever. I did happen to be doing something nearby yesterday. If you should ever be able to find out a location in the cemetery for these people, I'll be happy to try again. You might only be getting photos of unreadable stones but maybe I just missed them.

|Jim Woods||RE: Benjamin Brown|
Jill, I have purchased a copy of the William Brown family book. It seems whoever linked John Brown (1818-1893) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=124647911&ref=acom to John Glass Brown (1780-1753) did so in error. So, while John Glass Brown did have a son, John. It is not my 3rd Great Grandfather John Brown (1818-1893).
As for Benjamin, yes, there are several trees that have listed Benjamin as William's father.

The one bit of information I'd love to see is the information you have that ties John Brown b. 30 Sep 1818 Marion, Beaver County, PA, USA - d. 10 May 1893 Perry, Beaver County, PA to John GLASS Brown 14 Sep 1780 Allegheny, PA - 1853 Pulaski, Allegheny, PA, US. If you can reference any census, or other data, I'd appreciate it.
|Jim Woods||RE: Researching Brown|
Thanks so much, Jill. Have you done any DNA projects/research? Brown is on my maternal side. But, I've used 23andme and looking at doing a deeper sample with FamilyTreeDNA later this year. I've also uploaded my 23andMe results to GEDMatch.
On the Brown lineage, have you looked at Benjamin Brown (1695-1762) and Mother? Hescott (1710-1742) as potential parents for William? Granted that means his mother would've been 15 at the time, but, I've also seen other references to a Robert Brown born in 1710 as father that would've been 15 at the time as well.
The physical evidence I have (funeral cards, family notes, bibles etc...) only leads me as far as John Glass Brown.
Digitally, I've connected JGB to George Brown/Mary Glass. I've seen other trees, including your notes here that reach back to William. And, I've seen other, digital, references to Benjamin/Hescott, but I haven't jumped the pond, to Scotland, and invested in access to international records.
In parallel, I've been tracing my McCloskey/Woods lines that both lead to Northern Ireland. So, I will eventually make the investment. But, for now, I want to get all of my lines up to the point that I can maximize the effectiveness of my investment.
I'll keep you posted what, if anything, I find. But, I suspect your research is much more advanced vs. mine as I've only been doing this for 2-3 years.

Thanks so much for your information. I am the 5th Great Grandson of George Brown through Blanche Myrtle (Brown) McCloskey (1918-1990) > George T. Brown (1888-1951) > Elmer E. Brown (1861-1928) > John Brown (1818-1893) > John Brown (1780-1853) > George Brown (? - 1840). I've been working on the Brown line for some time and trying to link some pieces through some handwritten notes, obituary cards and stamps that my grandmother had throughout the years.
|Deborah Wall||Good morning Jill|
I did the trans to you. What was your grand mothers name? Do you know where she had last lived at?
|jim ravencraft||RE: photos|
Thanks for your concern. We are only attempting to help preserve history. I suggest you consult a local headstone company and obtain their input.
I would imagine that it would take years of chalking to damage a stone. Have a blessed week.
|Joyce Frey||RE: Dilts|
Yes, Isabelle Dilts daughter of Peter & Sarah Kinter Dilts, married to John Hopkins Lewis. I live on the west coast and have been doing genealogy for about 50 years. I am a widow and do genealogy at night.
