I am a 6th generation Iowan|
I had always gone to the cemeteries with my mother and grandmother, but I became active in researching geneology because I missed my grandmother and later, my Mom; I have been working on my family trees for years now, and when someone mentioned this site to me I was hooked!
Walking the cemeteries has become my favorite hobby sometimes my obsession.
*It is okay to use any of my photo's of headstones, for your family tree.
I transfer memorials to family members, I figure if they are your GGGG grandfather, or whatever, it should be yours. Not so much your 2,3 cousin or gg uncles etc. but grandparents, are a main lineage. So ask and let me know if they are your true ancestor

|Gary Stanford||Monroe Cemetery - Howell Churchill|
Is it possible to get a transcription of Howell Churchill's headstone (113783654)? I believe he is the child of Levi Morse Churchill and his wife Elizabeth Fitch Smith but not to be confused with another son, Howell Levy Churchill. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Roxanne. Mr. Holly has found and posted
stones for my memorials in the past, which I appreciated him doing so. If it's a Riggan, then
he is in our family of Riggans. The Riggans are
up front-like, as you walk in the cemetery.
I live north of Danville, and have been to the cemetery different times. When it's not raining or hot, I will try to get there again.
Thanks for letting me know and thanks to Mr Holly for finding and posting the stone.

I posted a photo of what I think could be his gravestone but not 100% sure until I can see the face of the stone

I will go on Thursday and look again. Don't know who is on the stone that is face down. It is massive, maybe 500 pounds or more.

Yes, it is OK for you to use my photo--thank you for asking!

You are very welcome. Let me know when you are coming, and I will give you directions to get there. It's a little off the beaten path, but not too hard to find. It has a lot of wonderful old stones. Have a great day-Barb

The photo I posted was from my "McCoy" cousin Billie Parker McCoy. (If you click on it and make it larger, you will see the information.) If you are interested in his take on the information you have, you might want to contact him as Lucinda was his great grandmother. He is 87 now, so it may take a while for him to reply. He has never worked on Find A Grave, so some of the postings I have done for him.
Send me your e-mail address by going to my home page and selecting one of my parents names, and send me a private message. I will be glad to send you his e-mail address.

Thanks so much for the transfer; I appreciate all the work you have done at this cemetery and others, Kitty
Hi again, Thank you so much for making the effort to find his headstone. I appreciate the time you took to not find anything.
