Thanks to EVERYONE who has helped add information and links to the memorials in Polk County. Everyone deserves a tribute and hopefully this information will help someone in their research. A special thanks to NOLLENE MARSH for all the links and information that she has provided.|
Please tell us about yourself in the BIO AND LINKS SECTION.
I began researching my family in about 2003. Some of the Surnames are McCraney, Williamson, Lott, Brock, Lakey, Smith, Turner and Jones. I grew up in Polk Co., TX and discovered most of my ancestors came by way of Mississippi or Alabama.
Surnames on my husband's side are Gregorcyk, Hirscy, Walker, Shives and Bluntzer.
Thanks to the people who share their information, I have been able to find an amazing amount on the Internet. The research can become addictive and never ending; there is always more to the story.
It is not my intent to offend anyone. If I have posted information that you want removed…please ask.

Hi. I'm trying to research a bit of a family mystery regarding my great grandfather James C Carruthers, and I see you posted what seems to be Rachel Whisenhant Carruthers' obituary on her page, his (second) wife. I was curious, where did you find the obituary? If they did indeed marry in 1955, then I guess he was technically married to two women at the same time because he never formally divorced my great grandmother when he ran out on her in 1925 and she died in 1957.

Oh, of course!
|Brandi Kelley||American Indian Heritage|
I am exploring in my ancestors' lineages by researching both maternal and paternal familial lines of my family heritage to serve as part of proof descending from American Indians (tribes needed). I will calculate the blood percentage for a tribal application. However, I have extremely long lines of relatives that are spread all over the United States. If one genealogist or member has free time to help me in this endeaver, I would kindly appreciate it. There is one caveat: My father and my grandmother share the same surname (but they are supposed to be unrelated). I have had success finding one cousin from the Find-A-Grave Web site obituary and photos that reads how my cousin was 1/4 Choctaw and in the Chactaw Nation. I would love to include American Indian Heritage into the Web site as informative genealogy for those needing quick access to any documentation in the future since much material and proofs are disappearing so fast. I believe that preserving all family documentation found and attained in person is worth keeping.

Hi Virginia, working on the Watkins Family Tree for a descendant, noticed you have a memorial for Ellen Watkins Cummings 20778943, her father's name was Marcus Reese Watkins and mother Florence Cheek Watkins, I don't suppose you saw a grave for Florence Watkins near her did you. I cannot find her, her death record indicates she died in Polk Co, and so I am thinking that after Martin died she went to live with Ellen and was there when she died. Mark is sometimes short for Marcus. Any info would be appreciated. thanks!

I sent you the wrong relationship link for Doris. she was married to William. And Albert was Williams brother. Please add the birth date off the stone.
