I have been working on genealogy for over 8 years. I have traveled to find the gravesites for relatives and hope I can help someone else. I love to find the old headstones that give information for people born after 1880 (the missing census info)and/or died before death certificates were required (GA 1917). If I have posted a Memorial or photo that needs a correction please use the edit button for the memorial and I will make the correction. I am also willing to add Bio information.

Edmond Maclin DeVall
Hi Cat, Edmond Maclin DeVall died in Mississippi in 1902 and never was in South Carolina in 1880. Both of his brothers, Edward and Charles, died during the Civil War.His two sisters married men from Jones Co. and one of them died in Texas in 1880 and the other died in Jones Co. in 1869.

Edmond Maclin DeVall's mother was Mary Truwitt who died sometime after the federal census of 1850 and before the state census of 1853. I suspect she was buried on the old homeplace in a grave that has long since disappeared.

Edmond Maclin DeVall's father, Neri B. DeVall died intestate in South Carolina in 1845 and the family moved to Mississippi(Jones Co) because Mary Truwitt DeVall had a brother, William L. Truwitt, who lived in Mobile,Al. and that was family.

Thanks for your interest but the Edward in the 1880 census in SC would not be any of the family in MS.

RE: Easters
Please share with Jan, again, that J V Jones in Calhoun is also Black. I have not found a dc for an other J V Jones besides the Burke and Calhoun which are both BLACK.

Thank you for passing this along; I do not know why her e-mail does not work for me. It still gives and undelivered message.

J. V. Jones
On his Find-A-Grave listing at Woodlawn City Cemetery, it reads that he died in Burke County. Who added this information? Do you have any other information for him?

Thank you very much,

Jane

No, haven't found anything of his headstone. Have not had a lot of time in C/R lately and it's being, once again, taken over by mother nature. Maybe one day, body permitting, will continue the search.

Have a great day,
Dennis
