|Bio and Links|
Bessie Lou Patterson McDowell was born on December 4, 1933 in Oldfield, Christian County, Missouri. Bessie was the fourth child of Jesse Robert and Lulu Mary Wolf Patterson. Bessie was born at the home of her grandmother, Mary M. Baird, Wolf, Benefiel. Bessie grew up in Major County, Oklahoma. Bessie was nicknamed by her younger siblings as "Bood". Older people called her Betty Lou, because her father's mother was Bessie. Bessie went to grade school at Pleasant Valley country school, that her father had also attend as a child. Bessie went to high school in Quinlan, Woodward County, Oklahoma. On May 18, 1952 in the home of Rev. Charlie C. Henderson in Haskew, Oklahoma, she married Kenneth Lee Roy McDowell. They are the parents of seven children. I have worked on my family history and my husband's family history for several years. I have a sister that said, "I was digging up the dead and I should leave the living alone." My husband once told a guy that "I was a grave digger". But I enjoy looking up our families.|
Note: Bessie was my mother. She passed away May 18, 2011. I am now maintaining her memorials. Please contact me as Public Name: Jovona Contributor # 47523947. Thanks.

Hello cousin Jovona,
I have not yet looked at all the work you and your mother have done on the Find A Grave site, but I enjoyed the quotes from your sister and husband. My sister and I are researching family and love to "put flesh to the bones". The obits help to do this. Thank you. Our 2x great grandmother was Margaret Melvina (Suter)Flinn, an aunt of Mary (Suter) Patterson.
Keep up the great work, Myrna

I noted your link beneath the pic of the Dodge Center arch on Rachel's page. I cannot find any links to the person who placed Rachel Smith's (11577281) FindAGrave entry. Rachel was the sister of my ancestor, and I have additional information about Rachel -- parents names, husband's name (haven't found his dates or cemetery yet), children's names, etc. How do I go about having this added to her memorial or having her memorial transferred to me? I'm hoping you are able to help!
|David Reynolds||Frederick J Bowen|
I noticed at the bottom of Frederick's Obituary as to what the initials H D Bowen stood for. This was an error on the census and should be H L Bowen for Henry Lewis Bowen: born 03 Feb 1827, Pike, Bradford, Penn., died 03 Feb 1900, Indiana. Henry was married to Martha Fannie Reynolds: born 12 Mar 1832, Rodborne, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, Eng., died Bet. 1910 - 1920, Indiana.

Thank you for your hard work at Find a Grave and to your departed Mother. I was hoping you could help correct the record on Jonas Wolf died 9 July 1787, not 21 Sept 1787, as listed in the bio section of his Find a grave page #16352518.
I thought you would want to know. The headstone you have attached there says 9 July 1787 also.

Nice to meet any kind of relative...it's by marriage for me too. Sabina is my husband's great great grandmother. :)

Hi Jovona, I think I gave you the wrong number. I'll need to research and see if I can find the right one. This person did not have a headstone, which is what I took, but it could be there since I think I forgot to open all pictures. Sorry to bother you. Sheila

Hi Bessie, I have the photo for Frederick Wolf, April 25, but cannot add it because there are already too many. Is there one you could delete if you wold like the headstone. Sheila
|Rita Sheets||Martha Jean Lawrence|
Hello. I'm David Sheets wife- he is Martha Jean Lawrence's son. Martha was the daughter of Bessie Mae Patterson and George Lawrence. Martha married Richard Sheets and had 2 sons (David and Richard). I found the web site for find a grave just by searching and it has made my husband very happy to see his ancestors. There is one error, Martha was born in 1930, not 1931. Martha Jean passed away on Sept 27, 2012. David did not know anything about his grandmother divorcing George Lawrence and marrying Russell Mathew. Do you know of any other information on this? Martha Jean had Alzheimer's disease so she was not able to answer any questions for quite a few years. I want to thank you (and your mother) for this information. I am sorry for your loss. We figure that you and David are cousins from way back. From what we can piece togther, your grandfather was David's great grandfathers brother. It would be nice to hear from you.
It was my honor and pleasure to sponsor your dear mother!

|Larry Johnson||Location of Haskew, Oklahoma|
Jovona, My name is Larry Johnson and I was born in Freedom, OK quite a number of years ago. While doing genealogy I keep coming across a town by the name of Haskew, OK. I notice in your family entry that a member was married by a pastor from Haskew. I know where Haskew Cemetery is as I have a number of relatives buried there, however, no one seems to know just where the town is or was located. I thought perhaps you might be able to shine a light in my direction as to the whereabouts of the town. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.
