Bio and Links
Bio Photo Some names of interest in my own family line include Lowther, Thistle, Milne, Henderson, Zirkle, Tedrow, Briix, and Blythe, my great-grandparents' names. My husband's family names include Doan, Corder, Dokken, Tangen, Goff, Allen and Peterson. Please send corrections/ updates; I want things to be accurate.

My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.

"Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way." Blackfoot Quote

"A Visit to the Gravesite"

Dear Ancestor,
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.

You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh and blood and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder how you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?

Julia Suppe
Thank you for sending the death date for Julia Suppe. That IS cool that your antique shop was the same building as Mr. Suppe's store. Yes, I love the stories that go with these memorials for family members.

I notice you have worked on the Hoover line with several memorials. Are you related? I line down from Tillman Hoover (Born Aug. 1838, Canada Died Feb. 1919, Kansas, USA) Larry

Hezekiah Doane II
You indicate that he died in 1771; however, you also indicate he was married on October 7, 1831. That can't be correct.

Daniel Doan
I wanted to let you know the facts you wrote about my Great Great Grand Father Daniel Doan were not entirely true. With all due respect I was wondering where you derived your information? I had the great honor of knowing my Great Grand Father, Daniel and Eliza's son, Leon Doan and his daughter my Grand Mother Leonore Cleaver. Again, I would love to find out where you derived your facts. I am open to discussing this with you!

I think you will be excited about this one.
I was. I think maybe she died giving birth to a baby girl, who also carried her name.

I noticed that you submitted the grave stone of Charles Russell Doane and the cemetery for Lyle Doane. They are my Uncles. Are you related somehow? Their brother George Abraham Doane is also buried in the Virginia, Minnesota Greenwood cemetery Nancy Harrington
