Bio and Links
Bio Photo Brainerd, Brainard and Braynard are 99% interchangeable, though our immigrant ancestor's (Daniel Brainerd 1641-1715) grave marker is spelled Brainerd. See memorial # 47491853. Several lines started changing to ARD in the mid-1800s. Braynard was someone's attempt to be different. My line through William has consistently spelled it ERD.

Brainerd/Gardner
I have come across a family Bible listing the Samuel S. Gardner family. Also listed is Harry Brainerd as the husband of Mary Gertrude Gardner. Are you related to this branch? I want to get this back to a family member. Any suggestions?

I accepted your edits. I added his obit from the Springfield newspaper, which stated he died in Menlo Park, Ca., so I also added that. Thanks for the edits.

I have submitted a link from daughter Adelmar Brainard Anderson to Helen Mar Gleason Brainard.

Adelbert was a solder the Civil War. He was in Company D, Massachusettsw 49th Infantry.

Helen and Adelbert were married in October 1878. He was a mechanical engineer and they lived in Chicago. He held quite a few patents. He was apparently deceased by 1898. By then Helen is listed as a widow in the city directories and a trustee is overseeing his patents.

Thanks so much for creating this memorial. She is my great grandmother! My grandmother was Adelmar, daughter of Adelbert.

Thank you for your edit suggestions. I have incorporated all except the death place into the memorial. You should receive a separate email with the details about that. You could consider contacting the city of Middletown health department to see if they have death records that go back that far, to confirm.

RE: Brainard F DeWitt
Hello

I have not found any Brainard connection through his father's line.

Unforunately his mother Eunice Mary Lewis' family is unknown to me. There could have been a Brainard connection through her family.

I am related to this family as proven by DNA analysis IF Luke was a son of Benjamin Witt DeWitt, so we are searching for a living male descendant of Luke. See Find A Grave memorial 62529002 for info about Benjamin.

Any help with this challenge is appreciated.

thanks

Don

RE: Charles Rieger
Hi Elena,
You are welcome. I was back at Evergreen the other day and checked the plot again to see if I had missed a military marker but there is none. I see the notation "WWI Marker" on his memorial page. Perhaps you can send a message to the person who set the memorial up and ask about the military marker notation. I believe he has done a lot of memorials for veterans. If I can do anything else just let me know.

Bob
