RE: Lorena Wheeler Whitaker
Hello ~ That is the correct Whitaker/Wheeler marriage record. Thank you so much for letting me know the actual record shows Laura. All I had to go on was the index in Ancestry.com.

My friend, Elaine, who is Laura and Henry's great-granddaughter, and I made a trip to VT in November. We were hoping to find Laura Wheeler Whitaker's grave. She died in Holyoke, and her death certificate shows Bondville Cemetery as her burial site, but we walked all over that cemetery and didn't see her grave. We also found the South Newfane Cemetery, where a lot of Whitakers and extended family are buried, but did not find a grave for Laura there, either. We concluded that her grave, where ever it is, must not be marked. Where she is buried is one of two questions left to be answered. The other one is why Henry and his daughter, Alice, moved to Atlanta, GA, after Laura's death. He had two sons still living in the VT/MA area. Henry married here (3rd wife) and had a son, who died at a young age. Henry died in 1910. His daughter, Alice, died in 1920 at age 30 years.
Thanks again for your help.

Merritt & Ardelia HARDY Wheeler
The linage for Merritt is:
Samuel Wheeler b: 1690 d: 1726
Moses Wheeler b:1722 d: 1722
Beriah F. Wheeler, Deacon b: 1759 d: 1836

This makes Merritt the 2nd great grandson of Samuel.

Is this what you were asking?

Merritt Augustus Wheeler is a distant cousin of my husband.
Going back generations in the family, my husband's 6th great grandfather, Samuel Wheeler (1690 - 1726), is a shared great grandfather with Merritt.

Lorena Wheeler Whitaker
I am helping a friend research her paternal grandmother's family. Her grandmother was Alice Whitaker Sims, born in Massachusetts. After the death of her mother, Alice and her father, Henry J. Whitaker moved to Atlanta, GA, where they were living in the 1900 census. Alice's mother was Lorena Wheeler, daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Sophia Crowninshield Wheeler. Lorena died shortly after childbirth in February, 1890, in Massachusetts. Her death record shows her burial as Bondville VT. However, we cannot find her grave. Are you familiar with this Wheeler family? Would you have any suggestions for finding Lorena's grave? We place to visit the area in a few months and would like to visit Lorena's grave, if possible.
Thank you.
