Bio and Links
Bio Photo In fourth grade, many, many years ago, I became involved with this wonderful hobby. Thank you for having this website!
Cemetery: euphemism coined by the early Christian writers. It is a Greek word for dormitory, a place to sleep.
"...passing down memories is the strongest link in the gossamer bridge that binds us as people."
David Baldacci.
"The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living." Marcus Tullius Cicero.
In eternal honor of our ancestors
Who left behind so much,
Who started here with so little,
That we might have everything.
Pax Christi.
Genealogy is the warp on which the fabric of history is woven. It is the most immediate, personal kind of history, and for many the most satisfying kind, rooted in the pervasive values of family and heritage. It is an essential part of the one great task each of us is called upon to undertake----the exploration of who we are.
From the Vesterheim Genealogical Center and Naeseth Library literature. Madison, Wisconsin.
A woman was trying to impress her friends at a party one afternoon. "My family's ancestry is very old." she said. "It dates back to the days of King John of England." Then turning to a woman sitting nearby, she said condescendingly, "How old is your family, my dear?"
"Well," replied the woman with a smile. "I can't really say. all of our family records were lost in the Flood."
They, who blazed the trail and broke the Virgin soil,
Ne'er garnered half the harvest of their toil;
To-day, wher'er they sowed, others reap
To them is sleep."
their brave deeds and, alas, too often their very names are forgotten.
""High fortune may be tossed away,
Nor health nor skill my long endure,
Only the name I bear is sure,
And since from it I cannot hide,
Lord, let me hold my name in pride."
It's hard to understand how a cemetery can raise its burial costs and blame it on the high cost of living.

RE: Sr Alexia
Thanks for keeping me informed. It is interesting that Sr. Alexia was buried in St. Catharina Cemetery after moving to Fond du Lac from Hays. Maybe to be with her sister, Sr. Clementia, who died the following year, both having died at the age of 93.

RE: Schueler Family notes.
1. Sister Agnes Schueler (1897-1990) was the daughter of John Henry and Bertha Staab Schueler. John Henry was Alexander Schueler's brother. They both had 13 children. I have sent edits and Sr. Agnes memorial should be updated shortly.

2. Eleanor Schueler (1903-1991) was the daughter of Alexander's first son, Henry, but is linked as a child of Alexander by mistake. She was Alexander's first grandchild. I will see if I can have this corrected and Eleanor linked to her real parents.

3. Sister Alexia (1889-1983) was living in Hays, KS per her sister's Rosa Staab 1972 obit. But the obit, which I just included in Alexander's bio, did not mention her religious order. At this time I think she was most likely buried in St. Catharina's Cemetery which is where her parents and many of her sibling are buried. It is not far from Hays.

4. Lawrence Anton Schueler (1901-1977) apparently went by his middle name Lawrence and used Anton as his middle name. He is listed as Lawrence A. Schueler in the California Death Index. He died in Monterey Co., CA. Could not find where was buried.

5. The two Staab and one Herman marriage names you questioned are all correct.

I will start adding as much as possible the children of Alexander and Clementina not already on find-a-grave.

RE: Sister's memorial
you're welcome. If one goes to the cemetery within 3-6 months after burial there is only the pipe cross & no headstone. So one needs to wait about a year for the headstone

RE: Well ....
Now deleted, and yes I imagine that the sisters kept impeccable records, I spent kindergarten through 12th grade, in Catholic school. :)
