I am Kerry Elkins. I live in Gladstone, Missouri, with my wife Joyce. I'm retired. I have been busy on the family trees of my side (Elkins, Monroe, Stansbury, Patchin, Usher, Satterwhite, Hallum and Woody) plus my wife's Fulton, Pence, & Braidwood trees. I grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and have many of the funeral home burial records.|
STRANGERS IN A BOX
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where or when,
These faces of my heritage would
come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of pictures we take today?
The faces and memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories.
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

|PC Hayat||RE: Ballards in Neodesha|
Are you related to the Ballards?
Fletcher T. Ballard and Nannie Johnson Ballard are my great-great-grandparents (on my father's side). Maude Hunter and Charles Hunter are my great grandparents.
Do you live in Neodesha?
I appreciate the work you are doing with Find A Grave. This is an amazing resource and has been very informative.

It's funny how some names stand out in our memory. The Fudge family in Neodesha are distant relatives. George is a 1st cousin, 4x removed! I assumed that Icy is his granddaughter but have not been successful at finding out which of his children was Icy's mother or father! Do you have any information?
|JM||Thanks for the research on Vinton Reynolds|
Thanks for the message offering more burial info for Vinton Lewis "Lewis" Reynolds. I was working on an older Vinton I. Reynolds from the 110 year-old family birthday book by my relative Hazel Bartlett (1884-1987).
Hazel was the niece of Frances Adelia Reynolds born 1853.
Well, more than you wanted to know about people not your relatives!
Thanks for being so conscientious.

I don't know what is going on with findagrave, but I'm not getting notifications when update requests are done. Nevertheless, I saw that you completed work on this woman who is my friend's aunt. I just wanted to say... Thanks for the updates, and you for all you do in findagrave!
Hello again! Thank you so much for the transfer of the Broeders! I'll take good care of them. Yes, we are probably related somehow. I have an almost 3,000 person Keil family tree on Ancestry and one of the many things I've learned in creating it is that through the approximately 100 years my branch of the Keils were in Missouri we are mostly all related and related and related again!! On some of its branches my tree looks like a big bowl of spaghetti! Thank you very much for the transfers and for all you do! Kathie Keil Crozier PS: I love the poem on your profile page! If you read my profile you'll know that the boxes of photos and documents I inherited are what got me started with Find a Grave and Ancestry. Finding a way to bring those memories and stories and pictures back to life, or at least out into the world again for others to find and enjoy is what drives me with this amazing, addictive, sometimes frustrating, often joyous hobby!

|Capt||Lillian "Lillie" Sailor Hamilton|
Hello, you posted a photo for Lillian on memorial # 89440813. Your comment was
"From photo album of Ruby Braidwood Fulton and from Anne Beiser-Allen". I was wondering where you found this photo album and if there are any others that she might be related to. Thanks for posting the photo it's wonderful. I put in a request to have her linked to her family today but noticed you transferred this memorial. Her father was Martin Van Buren Sailor (# 25453777) her sisters memorial (Hettie May Sailor Allen) has an obit that lists her name thus the connection. Thanks for any info you might share.

|Dolores J. Rush||Elkins question|
Love the poem! Do you have any Elkin relatives in Kentucky near Montgomery County or Kansas City, KS or Belton, MO by chance?
