Bio and Links
Bio Photo Stories of my Illinois ancestors were shared with me by my great grandmother Grace Ellen Smith Scanlon at an early age and this sparked a deep interest in genealogy and learning more about my heritage. After many years of library and Internet research I decided to visit the areas where my Smith, Rowland, and Wilkerson ancestors once lived. I've now made several trips to Illinois, specifically Montgomery County, and over the course of these visits have developed an interest in documenting cemeteries. My main focus is on abandoned family farm and small community cemeteries that are difficult to locate and are in the greatest need of being recorded.

It's exciting to research how everyone in a cemetery is related to each other and I enjoy getting emails from descendants who have discovered pictures of their ancestors graves here on this fabulous site.

Closer to home my Mom and I are helping with photo requests and general clean-up at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale.

As part of my masters thesis I am currently documenting how the victims of the St. Francis Dam disaster are memorialized. I am continually thankful for my many fellow find-a-gravers across the U.S.A. helping me locate and photograph the grave of each flood victim so they are not forgotten.

I do my best to provide complete and accurate information in all my postings. Corrections are encouraged! I will gladly transfer memorials to family and I am happy share my photographs, but please give proper credit: "Ann Stoddard, Find A Grave #46964942". If I have offended anyone by adding their loved ones to the site please let me know and I will promptly remove the memorial.

Young Dai Hahn (75428686)
Was married to silent actress Sally Hahn. He and his son died in a 1953 automobile accident.

Young was a Korean physician and Stanford University graduate. A day after his wife committed suicide (June 2, 1933) by shooting herself, Young took a dose of poison, attempting to end his own life. His suicide note read, "wait for me, I'm coming." He also requested that his cremated remains be mixed in with Sally's.

Sally Hahn's remains are in located at Hollywood Forever, Colonnade, Niche L - and are unmarked.

RE: Mathis family at Angelus Abbey
Sorry, I have not visited this cemetery. I was researching families who had relatives lost in a dam break.

Hi Ann -

Thanks do much for transferring Edwin's memorial to me. I think it's more meaningful, at least to me, when someone like you does that without being asked. I really appreciate your kindness.

I had asked you if you would also show his wife's maiden name, which you did. That, plus showing her death date which shows on the headstone - 18 Sep 1890. I think you just might have overlooked it. Her memorial # 75428736 . Hate to ask again after all you have done for me. If not too much trouble, would you please add it or I can go thru the edit routine again if you want me to.

Again, many thanks.

Olin

RE: Alvin J. Guertler
I am afraid he had one of those markers with almost no contrast between the color of the carving and that of the stone. If you view the full-sized version it is readable though.

IL Cemetery Photos
Hi - Just wanted to leave a note and say thanks! for your great photos I came across while researching the Flood family from Illinois. I especially liked that you included group / family plot pictures of those related - which is very helpful!
Also. . . just read about your research about the dam flood and your upcoming graduation! Congratulations! I wonder if the state would ever be able to do DNA testing to identify those who were not able to be identified - but maybe there is no DNA today. It's really nice to see that you took the "human aspect" of the disaster! Thanks again for the helpful photos I found!
