|historianne||Thanks for edits!|
It is really interesting to see how some gravestones deteriorate, are replaced, or even disappear all together. A couple of days ago I found 3 flat gravestones at Grandview that had almost disappeared! I dug them out with my fingers (all I had at the time) and photographed them. Anyway, many thanks for the edits you are doing. Unfortunately I will probably have many more to come. Thanks for all your work now and in the past!

Shauna, I am going to drive over there and check the cemetery out..things may have changed since I was there years ago. Is this cemetery well maintained and burials still going in..? Some one said because of he Lake things had changed at the cemetery.. I look at your picture and it doesn't seem to look the same as I remember.The one I looked was not maintained. Now I am very confused. my burials were back in 1919 or before.. and there may not have been large stones for them..Thanks for the help.

just wondering if you could add "also known as Clay Cemetery" to avoid confusion to Older researchers..? ..Some older people( gone now) that I talked to back in 1980 when I asked them where their dad and mom was buried (like Peter and Ida Clay) said they were in the Clay family cemetery at Stevens Lake....and some death certificates say buried in Clay cemetery ..Just some info I picked up over the years..Do appreciate your hard work on here..I am trying to add as much knowledge as I can of the Clay families that I have gathered over the years..before it is forgotten.
Wonder if we can change the name to Clay/Snuffer or Snuffer/Clay ? just to eliminate the confusion?
Shauna, When did this cemetery become changed to "Snuffer"? In all the old records it is listed as the Clay Cemetery and I find that the death certificates on some that are buried here say "Clay Cemetery" Surveyor.

I really need your help -
Looking at a few old Raleigh County cemeteries - - in the Sand Lick area...
Several years ago - I went to one - which was down a really winding road - - and had to get out of the car and climb a hill (on the left of the roadway) - - and I know I don't know the name of the cemetery .... it may be Caperton or it may be Phipps Cemetery ... On Find-A-Grave their are Phipps' buried in both - - but I'm wondering if they are in fact the same cemetery.
Any help you can give would be greatly, greatly appreciated...

Shauna, thank you for taking the time to capture the photos of Vernia Tolley O'Dell and Della Shumate Tolley's headstones. Many descendants of the families live thousands of miles away and cannot easily get to any cemeteries in WV.

Some times the names of the cemeteries don't always reflect what are on peoples death certificates and obituaries. There are a number of people buried there where their death certificates and obituaries refer to the cemetery as the Daniels Cemetery. So, I am wondering if you could put some kind of a description on the Clay Cemetery record that shows "also known as the Daniels Cemetery". This would reduce some of the confusion with that cemetery.
