I currently live in Las Vegas, NV. My family and I are originally from Florida (Go Gators!). I've always found cemeteries, especially old ones, fascinating because I'm a history buff and there are always graves with interesting stories. One or two have even prompted me to hunt down old newspapers and other data to find out more.

I had to retire very young, due to several back surgeries. All my years of crazy sports, the Marine Corps and working in law enforcement are not only behind me, but have definitely taken their toll. I tell people my warranty expired when I turned 30.

These days, I have several hobbies that keep me very busy (and, somewhat, out of trouble!): Geocaching is my BIG addiction and I'm out literally, EVERYday doing that (please visit Geocaching.com for more info and to start your own obsession), hiking, traveling, renaissance faires, pirate festivals, photography, and if I have any spare time, scrapbooking. Oh, and I'm trying to finish the last few courses needed for my double-Bachelor's. Whew!

My mom is the one who told me about this site (she's also the avid genealogist in the family). We figured if I'm going to travel and hike graveyards, I might as well try to help others if I can. She's often out there wandering with me when we're traveling (both geocaching and graveyard-rabbiting, which can often look like the same thing to the untrained eye), especially on the more challenging boneyards. I guess I've kind of adopted The Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery as my "home" cemetery. With a military and honor guard background, it just feels natural and like I'm contributing somewhere, even a little. I also enjoy the peaceful and often beautiful surroundings, and with everything I'm involved it, it's nice to go out for a few hours each week to tend and photograph the graves of our heroes.

Good morning Christi,

Thank you so very much for the photo for Paul's memorial. I appreciate you taking the picture. From your photo I added his wife Eufelia and have requested one for her. Now I am searching for her obituary with not much luck.

Blessings,
Sharla
