Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi Y'all. I'm a Central Pennsylvania native living in Eastern Georgia. I'm tracking down and documenting family names including Daugherty, Sprunger, Amstutz, Updegraff (and its variations Updegrave, Uptagrafft, Updegrove, etc.). I'm also interested in family names Antes, Bixler, Bressler, Coffee, Ferree, Gillinger, Habegger, Herr, Kendig, Logan, Pennington, Rothlischberger, Williams.

I'm part of the great Pennsylvania melting pot, a descendant of Scotch-Irish, Swiss Mennonite, French Huguenots, Moravians, English, German, and Welsh ancestors. The "huddled masses yearning to breathe free."

I'm also looking for my wife's family including Devaney, Hayman, Holley, Leffler, Ricketson, Robertson, Seiter, Street, Tuemler, Williams.

I'm trying to photograph as much as possible, and create an accurate, historical record. I'll be glad to transfer non-family members. I've enjoyed getting to know my extended family members through Findagrave.

Please visit my famous relatives:

Rev Hans Herr, Jr, Swiss Mennonite Bishop, 8th Great-Grandfather. (Herr)

RE: Gunsaullus Update
We haven't been able to make a connection to John Blair Linn. I asked my cousin Brian Linn about that a while back. They lived in the same area so I thought there should be a connection, but so far we haven't been able to find one.

RE: Winnie Daugherty #59293421
Ah, yes, the misspellings. Plus it’s quite common – it’s become something of an indignant curse I mutter while wading through genealogy information: “Daugherty, why must you be the Smith and Jones of Irish Surnames?!?!” The condensed version I can offer you is that David Daugherty and his wife Polly McBride emigrated to New York ca. 1744 with their two young sons, Thomas and Anthony. Thomas married Margaret DeFoe, Anthony married Deborah Ford. Thomas’ daughter Esther married Anthony’s son Jacob. Anthony had another son, Hiram, who married Nanny Hays and had a son named Hiram Henry. Hiram Henry married Mary Jane Goodnight and they had MANY children, one of whom is Jasper Newton “Newt” Daugherty Sr., who was Winnie Daugherty’s grandfather by his son Jasper Jr. (How’s that for condensing 150 years into a relatively short paragraph?). Unfortunately, I don’t know much else about those first four American generations, except notations that they were in New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Illinois. Hiram Henry came out to New Mexico, and it’s his son Newt’s descendants I’ve been looking for. So thank you for looking after Winnie’s virtual memorial, and perhaps we will find our paths cross again after all.

Winnie Daugherty #59293421
Hi Bill,
I was so excited to see your name, it's the first time I've seen an active Daugherty on this site. Granted, I'm new, and gathering information on my own branch of Daughertys, but you're still the first I've seen to still have the name. Winnie was the firstborn of my great-grandmother's siblings.
I'm sure if we're related, it's quite distant, as I don't recognize the names you've included as your Daugherty relatives, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to say hello!

Hi, got your message about the duplicate of 106668899 and 54440878. I messaged 54440878 and asked her if she would be willing to delete her entry since our entry is completed with obit, photo and tombstone. I'm waiting to hear back from her. Thank you for catching the duplicate entry.
