Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years age
spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

I found this and fell in love with it but, do not know who wrote it. Hope that you enjoy reading it.

Just transferred above memorial to you. I am not related. I took several photos in the Solomon Plot when I was in Lumpkin. Leila Pauline Everett Solomon Hobbs was my great aunt.

RE: William Poland 1803-1889
Hi Virginia,

Thanks for writing. Yes, I was the one who requested the information on William "Bone" Ballard Poland (1803-1889) was my 3rd GGF. I've been wanting to get to the Bisteneau Cemetery for some time. I have some limited documents listed on If you're a member, please let me know your user name and I'll send you a link. I did correspond with Richard Tucker over the years.

BTW, if you want to add an incentive to find the records for the cemetery to the lady you mentioned, please let her know i'll send her $25.00 if she's able to find them.
