Bio Photo First and most importantly, I want to thank everyone who has taken time to fulfill my requests for photos. There are many of you and I don't always send personal "Thank You"s. Just know I appreciate every one. FAG members are the greatest!

The more I dig into genealogy, the deeper I get. The further back I go, the further ahead I get.

GENEALOGY HUMOR:

It's in my DNA.
Genealogy: it's a life!
Genealogy: the study of horse thieves and fence-jumpers.
I just dug up the idea.
Speak softly but carry a big shovel.
Move over! someday I'll need some room.
Every family tree has a few nuts and fruits. Did my ancestors have sex?
Help, I'm stuck in my family tree and can't get down.
Genealogy: will I ever find time to do anything else?
If your naughtiness is recorded, I'll find it.
Some of my favorite relatives are the ones in the cemeteries.
Tell the undertaker to put a smile on my face so I'll look good for the genealogists' camera.

CEMETERIES HUMOR:

A cemetery detective always gets her man. Leave no stone unturned.
Actual headstone: I told you I was sick!
Atheist: All dressed up and no place to go.
Wife's headstone: "Mother of Three". Husband's headstone: Father of two".
Town Cemetery Sign" Drive carefully. "We have two cemeteries and no hospital."
Cemeteries: I never met a relative I didn't like.
Cemeteries don't scare me, tax season does.
"Say cheese!"
I'm never asked by relatives "what are YOU doing here?"
At this family reunion, everyone gets along.
Street sign at cemetery: Dead end.
If their favorite cousin never came around, will I do?
Cemeteries: People are dying to get in.
Unpopular with the ladies? He couldn't even get a date on his gravestone!
Do grave diggers only tell dirty jokes?

FUNERAL HUMOR:

Once I told the undertaker he couldn't close the coffin until I found my contact lens.
Mortician: someone who tries to look sad at a $50,000 funeral.
The aged woman took out a funeral plan for cremation. The confirmation letter offered her a warm welcome.
Dumb blonde: a passer-by asked her as he saw a funeral procession "Who died?" The blonde replied "I think it's the guy in the coffin."
What happens if your check for the funeral bounces?
My mother-in-law died because she was kicked by a donkey. How much do you want for the donkey?
A man's mother-in-law died while they were visiting the Holy Land. It cost $20,000 to ship her home. The man immediately said "ship her home!" A man died here 2,00 years ago and later rose from the dead. I can't take that chance."

MORTICIAN HUMOR:

Mortician: "After work, let's have a cold one."
Mortician leaving a party: "See you soon!"
Do undertakers enjoy their job? Of corpse they do.
Mortician: "I give everyone I meet a smile."
You stab 'em, we slab 'em.
Undertakers are nice. They're the last to let people down.
Very good news: Every lawyer needs an undertaker.
Memento of famous person: taking a snapshot of them shaking hands with the deceased.
What did one mortician say to the other mortician? "My wife told me to stop taking my work home with me."
"Do I really look like a people person?"
Bumper sticker: Have a nice day!
"See, he really did have a heart"
There was an undertaker that signed all his letters with…."Eventually, Yours."
"That's the second biggest one I've ever seen!"
"Let's see if this guy really has the guts."
"Sorry, we don't have a lay-away plan."

DEATH HUMOR:

Death is God's way of issuing updates.
An old husband on his death bed reached for a freshly baked cookie. His wife said, "Leave them alone, they're for the funeral!"
Why do I read the Bible so much? I'm cramming for my finals.
When death comes knocking, tell him I already left.
Practicing doctor: They bury their mistakes.
When I'm at the hospital, I don't want death to come visiting.
At his 100th birthday party, the man was asked his favorite day. He replied, "The day I walked down the isle to where she was waiting for me, kissed her cheek and then had the coffin lid screwed down."
Why don't corpses' suits have pockets?
Bad Luck: Being told the day you die you've won the lottery is enough to give you a heart attack.
Marriage: a temporary insanity, curable by death.
Death isn't a word, it's a sentence.
Florist mistake: good luck on your new venture.
Husband to wife: "If you don't drive more carefully, the newspaper will print your age."

and finally....

IRS HUMOR

Deceased to IRS: "Come and get it! I always told you where to go".
Deceased man's final request: to have his final IRS payment buried with him and to tell the IRS to come get it.
Oh well, what ever happens, there's always taxes.
Just mail my ashes to the IRS with this note "Now you have everything!"
Taxes isn't a four letter word, but it should be.
A fool and his money are soon parted. The rest of us wait until income tax time.
Death and taxes are inevitable, but death doesn't repeat itself.
One can be born free and then be taxed to death.
Of course you can't take it with you, and with high taxes, lawyer's fees, and funeral expenses you can't leave it behind either.
Notice, funeral costs come with taxes.
"You're going to audit me? Over my dead body!"
The wages of sin are death, but taxes go on.
Red flag for an audit: You've left a will.

RE: Hello
Sally,

You are most welcome. I haven't been able to do so lately as I've had nothing but computer problems. Some day when I get the extra money to get it fixed or get a new one, I will be back in action taking photos. I am guessing that some of the requests were for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
The Friedens Lutheran Church located in Friedensville is in Center Valley, south of Allentown. It has nothing to do with the Friedens Church located in Washington Township. Several cemeteries for that church were created and Find A Grave merged them, which is why they are listed the way you see them.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I know what Friedens UCC is. You previously posted photos of their UCC signs on the correct church/cemetery for Friedens Church Cemetery. Friedens Church in the village of Friedens in Washington Township is currently a United Church of Christ. It was originally a Union Church, which meant that both Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Lutheran services were held in the church. Reformed Lutheran churches became the United Church of Christ about 1956. I thought you were stating that there was a separate cemetery on Find A Grave for Friedens UCC, which I was unable to locate. The Church connected to Friedens Church Cemetery is now (as stated above) Friedens United Church of Christ.

RE: Hello Lynn
The cemetery is at Heidelberg Union Church which has a Slatington address, even though it's not really near Slatington. The church is just about a mile away from Saegersville which is about 2 miles from Germansville.

I think it is correct to refer to the cemetery as the Heidelberg Union Church Cemetery. The very oldest tombstones are near the church on its south side and the later tombstones are on the hill behind the church on its north side.

The church still has a Lutheran and a UCC congregation (the old Reformed) which both hold services every Sunday morning. I play in the bell choir at the church, but am not a member and do not attend regularly--only when the bell choir is playing for services. Next year the church is celebrating its 275th anniversary.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally,

I'm trying to separate information to hopefully reduce the confusion. UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON is located on the West side of Route 873, north of Friedens and south of Slatington Borough. It is in Washington Township. There is only one listing for it on Find A Grave. This is the link to it.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I wish I could type in another color or font to respond further to this, so I'm going to type in ALL CAPS. I hope my information below clarified some things but I see I might have missed parts of your question so I'll provide specific info here.

"but it was in Washington Twp. on same road as Union Cemetery, Rte. 873 & 7th St., Slatington, Lehigh Co., PA 18080. I'm confused. I never saw the name Union any where on the church, signs or cemetery."

SEE BELOW--SIGNS ADDED AUGUST 2014. LOIS HAD THEM ADDED TO CEMETERY PAGE. ROUTE 873 AND 7TH STREET DON'T RUN INTO EACH OTHER. CEMETERY IS ON THE CORNER OF ROUTE 873 AND CEMETERY ROAD.

"Find A Grave also lists another closely named cemetery Friedens UCC church cemetery with the same address in Washington Twp."

I COULDN'T FIND A LISTING FOR FRIEDENS UCC CHURCH CEMETERY.

"Find A Grave has cemeteries: Friedens Reformed Cemetery, Lehigh Co. Union Cemetery, Rte. 873 & 7th St., Slatington, Lehigh Co., PA 18080 which is the one I created after visiting it."

THIS IS THE CEMETERY THAT I HAVE REQUESTED TO HAVE MERGED WITH FRIEDENS CEMETERY. I'M COMPLETELY CONFUSED WITH THE NAME YOU HAVE FOR THIS AND THE ADDRESS. DO YOU KNOW HOW YOU CAME UP WITH THAT INFORMATION?

Then Friedens UCC church cemetery, Washington twp. ALL ARE ON Find A Grave SEPARATELY.

AGAIN, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND FRIEDENS UCC CHURCH CEMETERY IN WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP. COULD YOU PROVIDE THE LINK SO I CAN LOOK AT IT? I HOPE THIS HELPS.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally,

I see that you added cemetery and church photos to Friedens Cemetery. The cemetery that you added the photos to is the correct Friedens Cemetery. Someone has added a duplicate cemetery with 6 burials. I have sent a request to Find A Grave to merge the incorrect cemetery with the correct cemetery. I have also provided them with the physical address, phone number, GPS coordinates, AKA names, and a detailed description about the physical location of the cemetery and requested that they add the information to the cemetery page to, hopefully, reduce/eliminate the confusion.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I would be happy to help you understand the cemeteries in the area. The municipalities can be confusing. Union Cemetery of Slatington did not have a sign until August of this year when Slatington celebrated it's 150th Anniversary. I'm going to look at all the cemeteries and submit them to Find A Grave admins as needed for correction and merging. Friedens (Reformed) UCC Church and Cemetery is located on Route 873 in the VILLAGE of FRIEDENS, which is located in WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, just south of SLATINGTON BOROUGH. It has nothing to do with Union Cemetery. I have all of the birth, marriage, and burial records in my possession, some of them are on my website, but not all in order not to violated copyright.

UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON is located in WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, just south of SLATINGTON. 7th Street and Route 873 DO NOT CONNECT anywhere. UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON is located at ROUTE 873 and CEMETERY STREET. Route 873 is the East boundary of the cemetery and Cemetery Road runs along the South boundary of the cemetery, except that they just opened a new section of the cemetery on the opposite side of Cemetery Road, on the edge of a farmer's field. The Slatington Library has the cemetery records on CD.

HEIDELBERG UNION CEMETERY is located on Irwin Road in HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, 10 to 15 minutes from SLATINGTON BOROUGH. It has no connection to Slatington, other than a Slatington postal address.

Lois Rumble Revenaugh, a friend of mine, has taken photos of every grave in FRIEDENS, UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON, NEFFS UNION CEMETERY, and SLATEDALE CEMETERY. She is in the process of uploading them. I have gone out with her to photograph graves. She goes row by row and she is one of the few who has memorials that I trust.

I hope this helps. If there is any other information you would like, let me know. I'd be happy to help you get things straightened out and end your confusion.

RE: Hi Gwyn
Friedens has always been a mystery to me. My step-daughter-in-law's father is a Lutheran minister. He was the rector at Friedens in Center Valley. The cemetery has both a new and very old section. It seems like there are numerous Friedens cemeteries.
