Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a resident of Somerset County, PA and started this adventure with researching genealogy for my family, this led me to searching for family members headstones to add to my research files. A posting on a forum page led me here and it was been fun surveying my local graveyards and taking pictures. Now my family thinks I'm a total nut. Oh well, here are the fruits of my labors to share with you all.

As it is labor intensive to take the time and take the pictures, make the name and info lists, and then post the pictures, I ask that you respect my photos and not steal copies of them from here. I retain all copyrights to these photos and will remove them if I find they are being used inappropriately without explicit written permission from me.

RE: Frances Hershberger
Back in 2012, you sent me a message asking if I wanted to have custody of Frances Hershberger's web page. I just discovered this message and am sorry that I am so late in responding to you. Yes, I will be willing to take charge of her web page, if you don't mind.

RE: Hershberger Cemetery, Elklick Twp.

I have put her 27 memorials into a virtual cemetery so they can be quickly located and will be contacting one of the admins to have them merged into the originals in the correct cemetery. I will also get her main cemetery photos moved to the correct place. I will let you know when it is done.

Hershberger Cemetery, Elklick Twp.

I visited the page you entered for the Hershberger Cemetery on the advice of a third party who told me about the mass of duplicates accidentally created by Ancestor Searcher, who placed all the memorials in the incorrect cemetery. I see in your note on the page that you are attempting to get this corrected. I am hoping we can coordinate on this, as I am the creator of the original memorials (in the other cemetery) that have now been duped. Some of those memorials I created have photos added by others, a few have moderately extensive bios that I have added, many have links. If AS's memorials get moved there (as they should be) there will be a ton of dupes that need to be either removed or in some cases merged. Some of her photos are for memorials that do not yet have photos on the originals so merges there would be of great value. I would be very grateful if you could keep me in the loop as to what is happening as you work to get this corrected, since I put a fair amount of my time and effort into adding the originals added back in 2006.

Could you check your dates on memorial #73872799 and make the necessary corrections. You have the date of birth as 1898 and death as 1879.

Sanford Harding, son of Mrs. Lulu Harding and the late Frederick Harding, died
at his home in Somerset on Tuesday morning, at 8:45 o'clock, at the age of 70
years, 3 months and 27 days, following a long illness of a complication of
Mr. Harding was born in Frostburg, Md., but at an early age moved with his
parents to Meyersdale, where he grew to manhood and lived the greater part of
his life. He married Miss Caroline Crissinger, of Meyersdale, when quite a
young man, and together they reared a fine family of nine children.
Mr. Harding was a member of the local Church of the Brethren. He was an
industrious and hard working man, and was a good and loving husband and father.
For a number of years, when the coal boom was on in Meyersdale, he was employed
as a coal miner, but in later years worked for the Sand Spring Water Company
with his son, William. Impaired health, during the last two years, made it
impossible for him to seek regular employment. He and his wife lived the last
year of his life in Somerset with a daughter, at whose home he succumbed.
Undertaker J. L. Tressler brought the body to Meyersdale and prepared it for
burial, and removed it to the home of his son, William Harding, on Keystone
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon. A short service will be
held at the house at 1:45, after which the funeral cortege will go to the Church
of the Brethren, where Rev. George Detweiler will preach the regular funeral
service at 2:00 o'clock. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
Mr. Harding is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Lulu Harding, who is now 93
years old, his wife, Caroline Crissinger Harding, four sons, William, of
Meyersdale; Frank, of Elk Lick Township; Harry, of Charleston, W.Va., and
George, of Pittsburgh, also by five daughters, Carrie Harding, of Pittsburgh;
Mrs. Nora Pugal, of Seattle, Washington; Thelma Dougielo, of McKees Rocks, Pa.;
Mrs. Esther Zimmerman and Mrs. Ada Lape, of Somerset. He is also survived by
three brothers, Joseph, of Baileysville, W.Va.; Herbert, of Meyersdale, and
Lloyd, of Greenville, Township, and three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Hughes, of
Lonaconing, Mrs. George Robertson, of Midland, Md., and Miss Nellie Harding, of
Baltimore. Seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive
