This site helps preserve our family histories and information that can fade with time from our cemeteries. I'm glad to be able to contribute and want to thank all of you who have contributed to this wonderful resource.|
My husband deserves many thanks for driving me to cemeteries or stopping at ones we see along the road as we travel. He helps me watch where I step and for things that crawl. He has walked many of these cemeteries with me or patiently sat waiting for me.
My Great-Uncle Will walked the cemetery in Cherokee, Texas with me when I was in grade school and told me about some of the people buried there. I wish I had been old enough to realize how important that information was. He was from the time when the men in the community dug the grave for someone for free and it showed love, honor, and respect.
At that same time in my life my Grandmother told me not to step on the graves as a way to show respect. She was also an example of love and respect in her actions as I watched her clear the weeds from my Grandfather's grave by chopping them with a hoe.

I added the birth date. Will add the obit after he is buried. That is just the way I do it. Also no proof that he was born and died in Cookville, Just because he was of Cookville does not necessarily mean he died there. I will check further when I add the obit. My father lived in one county from the day he was born until he died age 89. He died in adjoining county and this happen a lot when they are in a hospital. If it says died at his residence I accept the place that it gives.

I have found Fred's youngest sister and she would like to know more about Fred. She was adopted when she was a baby; after her mother had been killed in a car accident. She does not have email and has asked me to help get more info.

You are welcome.

Do you know if this memorial is for Dudley Lloyd Stewart, whose wife was named Elizabeth Beatrice "LizzaBea" Lewis Stewart?
I found the record on a cemetery transcript on the Pike County GenWeb site.
If this is one of your kin, I have no problem transferring him.

I've sent multiple requests for transfer of my Great Grandfather's memorial that have received no reply at all. Was curious what else was needed for this to happen?
My father and Fred were cousins. I am trying to find out more information about him. Thanks for any help you can provide.
