In early 2015, the Golden Gate National Cemetery Photography Project completed its 3-year-long effort. The cemetery, located in San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, is now 99.96% photographed, with less than 50 inscriptions that need to be photographed.|
Since March 2015, I have been photographing the markers in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, San Mateo County, California. Only 18% of the 355,000 markers there have been photographed. Many of the burials are reinterments from the now defunct Calvary Cemetery in San Francisco. Theresa Miller is helping me to post the photos. We are currently posting photographs in Section B, F, and G: For Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery the San Francisco Genealogy website is invaluable:
We add new memorials as need be and add missing information and links.
Please contact me if you have taken a better photograph of a headstone for a memorial (e.g., with better lighting), and I will be happy to remove my photo.
Golden Gate National Cemetery Credits:
FAG members Samme Templin, Theresa Miller, Christine S., and Cindy S. helped post the photos.
FAG contributor Stewart Blandon completed Section 2E. Stewart also created an excel spreadsheet for the burials in the cemetery that has been vital for the project. Stewart and Kathleen Clemence added plot information to memorials.
FAG contributor Kathleen Clemence completed Section R.
FAG contributor Christine and Winmar finished photographing and posting photos from Section MA.
Notes on the Golden Gate National Cemetery:
Section A: Redo north facing markers starting with A-133.
Section E: Contains markers for 45 graves of German and Italian prisoner of war from World War II; there also about 100 graves of servicemen who died between 1865 and 1910.
Sections O to V: Completed June through Sept. 2014. Section R completed by Kathleen Clemence.
I am currently interested in the Brocher, Lahey, Williamson, Weber, and Grumann families of eastern Wisconsin, particularly Manitowoc County.
I am also researching Nuzum, Wright, Wheeler families of western Wisconsin.
Finally, I am researching Welch, Belden, Dunbar familiies of southeastern Minnesota.

You are certainly welcomed. I am trying to document all of the graves at Catawba Memorial. Big, big project. Will take some time.

I have more photos. By a fluke i found out about this cemetery. Some of the stones were vandalyzed last year. Yes quite a few are on the ground. I dont know why my photos uploaded sideways. I had them correct when i edited them. My computer was giving me trouble. I will try to get more this week uploaded.

You are more than welcome, glad I could get it for you. It's too bad it's weathered so badly and is hard to read.
|Brenda Odesha||Thank You|
I wanted to thank you for maintaining this for my grandfather.

This was very helpful. I have most often seen a smaller individual headstone with first name and dates when there is a larger family stone. Thank you for your help, Diana
You have posted a tombstone photo of Durby Lee Adkins and Barbara Ann Adkins to Robert P. Reynoldson's memorial (#1114822) by mistake.

I really enjoy getting photos for people. I challenge myself to see how quickly I can get them. Thank you for noticing. If the weather and my schedule work together a 24 hour turn around is easy. My record is 27 minutes from claiming the request to posting the photo. I try to get a photo of the complete stone, one of just the name and date if a close up is clearer to read and one of a family grouping if possible. Let me know if you want anything special or I can help in any other way. I am not that into my own family tree but know that links can sometimes be the break someone else is looking for to further their search.

Hi Tom, you have posted a photo to this memorial #107439772 with the names O'Brien / Green on the headstone. No dates and does not have Dorothy's name showing. I am tracking my great uncle's wife, Dorothy, whose maiden name was Green and I believe her mother's maiden name was O'Brien. I was wondering if you recall why you attached this headstone to this memorial? Thanks for any info, Diana
