I was raised in Monrovia, Atchison County Kansas. I attended Monrovia Grade School, Atchison County Community High School in Effingham and graduated from Benedictine College. I have enjoyed a career as an art director/creative director in the Kansas City advertising community for over thirty years. My interest are Civil War history particularly the border war between Missouri and Kansas and the history of Monrovia and Atchison County Kansas.|
I am currently doing research on the Nottingham, Geiger, Parker, Yocum, Bradley and Ledington families.
I have a vested interest in the Monrovia cemetery as it overlooks and adjoins my family farm. My father served on the Monrovia cemetery board for many years and my younger brothers and I mowed that cemetery for most of our teenage years.

Thanks for all your hard work. I just want to mention some things about the McFaddens buried in St Ann's Cemetery, Effingham, Kansas.
Firstly, did you ever find Bridget McFadden's name on a marker in the cemetery (monument # 102660403)?
Secondly, John Edward McFadden (123154620)is Bridget's son, but he is not buried there, so it makes it confusing to anyone looking at his name being listed there. I have never seen anyone listed as if in a cemetery who was not there before. Anyone who doesn't know, would think he is buried there. He is buried in Kansas City.
Next, Patrick E McFadden (wife Mary C Doyle)& Edward E McFadden (wife Catherine Donahue & son Ralph)are sons of Bridget & Edward, and they are buried in St Ann's. All the McFaddens in St Ann's are one family, except the Richard, who died in 1883. I do not know who this is & would love to know. Bridget & Ed had a son Richard, but he died in Denver in 1903. His obit says he was the brother of Edward. I believe Jean McFadden Falley is also mentioned somewhere (probably in her father Wm Clyde's info) She is his daughter, but again is not buried in St Ann's. She's in Topeka.
One more question for you - you mention you live in or near Monrovia & know that cemetery. Are there any McFaddens buried there ? I suspect not. Did Monrovia have a newspaper ? If not, where would their news have been reported in the 1870s & after ?
Thanks for any help, and for all you have already done. Hope my info helps straighten out the McFadden family. Susan B

Steve, I so appreciate all your Findagrave work. It has helped me so much in my family tree work. My wife has a number of relateds buried in Atchison County. So thanks. Thanks, too, for responding so nicely to my several requests for edits. J. Keith Cook in Omaha. (#4886444)
PS...Since you do commercial art in the KC area I'll ask if you know, or know of my nephew Jonathan "Jon" Cook. He is president of VMR, an advertising firm headquartered in KC. (I think I have that firm name right. The offices are at the old KC airport.)

Thank you for the picture. I have been able to visit the gravesite of my great great grandfather twice now. I leave flowers there when I come from Wyoming.

Thanking you for taking the time to try and get a grave marker photo of Clyde Robert Strine #132208780 and letting me know there is no marker in place yet.
Your efforts and information are greatly appreciated.

|Bill Gunn||RE: Yoakum/Yocum/Yocom|
Are your Yocums related to Peter Petersson Yocum (Yochim)1652-1701, son of Peter Jochimsson?
Take a look at this memorial 125243933, it explains the Yocum/Yocom line from Peter Jochimsson. My Yocoms came from Jonas Yocom.
If your Yocums are related, then you and I are related.
|Bug||Jane Ames Van Kleeck|
I noticed that your entry for Jane Ames Van Kleeck shows her burial is in Pennsylvania. Your date of death is correct but she and infant daughter Susan are buried in the Clearview Cemetery, Cohocton, Steuben County, New York. We have been there twice and the sexton showed us their grave site (no headstone). They are in one of two purchased sites, the second is unoccupied. Nearby are buried daughter Martha Van Kleeck Yocum, son Walter (4), husband Swan and mother-in-law Margaret.
David Van Kleeck and family moved back to Luzerne County, Pa after the 1860 census, He joined the 162 Pennsylvania unit on 22 September 1862. His brother George was in the 104 New York Infantry. He was killed 30 August 1862 at the battle of Bull Run.
Thank you for your much work in Find-a-grave.
Cheers, Melvin Wright

I am researching the Yocoms as they are related to me. I see that you denied my edit for the Yocam memorials. Do you have any paperwork that discusses these Yocum's/Yocam's?
I'm sure it's just a typo on the stone, but I have edited over 150 Yocum's that were in reality Yocoms, even the stone said Yocom, so I want to be sure of the spellings.
Any info you have that could shed light on this would be great.
Thanks for all you do for Find a Grave.
|Margaret||Col. John Daum Pardee Cemetary|
Thank you for adding cemetery photos for Col. John Daum who was my maternal grandfather. My grandmother, Sarah Margaret Daum I believe is buried next to my grandfather. My grandmother Sarah Daum passed away the same time as John F. Kennedy's death in 1963. I just retired and now have more time to research my family background which I enjoy so much.

Thanks for all you have done. I started doing cemeteries in 1976. I wrote a book on Pardee and Farmington then. I am presently doing an ancestorial search on each person in the Lancaster Cemetery. Marcelline Vaughan
