I have always been fascinated by my family - they have deep roots in Lancaster County, PA. I started collecting photos, info, stories, and clippings early in my teens. I visited many of the old cemeteries where family was buried and helped clean graves - great time to talk to older relatives about their memories.
In the 1980's I interviewed many family members fully intending to really get digging - but children came along and relocations for work, so all the family papers were safely boxed up for "later". In the meantime, most of the older folks have died, so my memories are precious. In the last couple years I have finally been able to dig again, and what fun it is. Find-a-grave has been a wonderful help and just flat out a lot of fun.
The photos I take of graves, in my opinion, are for sharing. Please feel free to copy and use them in your family history search.
When I travel, I try to stop and take photos in at least one cemetery. It helps me learn a little about the area, and gives me an excuse to stop at the local library and town office to learn a little more.
Please ask if you would like a memorial transferred to you. I feel families belong together and I am not interested in how closely they are related. The only ones I will not transfer are my own or my husband's family members.
