|I have long, long connections with Wilkes County, NC. I grew up in upper Virginia, the D.C. area to be exact, and would visit here from time to time with my dad, who was born in Wilkes County. In 1967, we moved to CA and I married in 1970 and moved to Oregon where I lived until 2000. At that time, I moved back to CA to help with my parents. Each year, we would visit during late September/early October for family reunions and about two years ago, daddy and mother were getting tired of things in CA in the Bay Area and started thinking about moving. We looked at property in Wilkes County and last September found the home we now live in. We moved from CA to "home" and the moving van pulled up on Dec. 26 of 2007 and in we moved! We are glad to be home among family and friends and while I have never lived here before, it feels like home since my roots go back to the 1770's here and I feel like I know all there is to know about Wilkes (which, I'm sure, is not true!) But, here I am and since I am caregiver for my 90-year old dad and 85-year old mother, (who has since passed away on June 11 2009), I don't work and have some free time on my hands. I am going to attempt to photograph Wilkes County cemeteries over time and since findagrave was so helpful to me, I am happy to be able to add to the lists. I am willing to help with questions and answers about Wilkes cemeteries and history, but cannot guarantee I will do it in "your time". lol I love this website and appreciate all the great contributors.|

I updated his memorial page per your request - however I believe his son's obit is wrong since William's gravemarker shows his middle name to be "C" not a "G". His name was probably "Calloway" and "Callie" a shortened version - I do not know if this was a nickname though. Thanks for the heads up and if you want the memorial transferred to you I certainly can Nancy

Thank you so much for placing the information on, little Minnie Parsons., Minnie was my fathers sister, and died too young. I have placed her death certificate, with the information, you provided. Unfortunately, the death certificate, isn't very clear, and it has incorrectly stated, that her parents were, W., M., Parsons, and Adlaide Hamby. A closer examination, will show, that her mother is, actually Adeline Combs, a mistake, with can easily be made. My Grandfather, alternately used , middle initial, M, and sometime H., His middle name was actually, Hardin. Thank you, so very much for your work, Minnie is in the Fishing Creek, Arbor, Baptist Church Cemetery. Thank you, so very much, and God Bless. Sincerely Marion Parsons, Cannon, Chandler.

I descend from Thomas Foster Jr. through three of his children, so I have virtual cemeteries for all of my DAR lines to keep the information straight. The only thing holding up my Akillis Foster line is proving that he is Thomas' son.
Akillis and Lavinia's daughter Mary married Francis Eller. Their daughter Bunie Eller married Andy Walsh, and then their son Arthur married my great-grandmother Laura Hawkins. I am named after her, she died when I was almost five.
Most of my family lives along Elk Creek, but I live in Durham.

I plugged in his info that you had and found his death record which verifies him as John and Elizabeth Mikeal's child. Thank you so much for having this info on her memorial page. I would never have known about him otherwise. 1900 and 1910 Censuses she is listed as married, but husband not shown with her. I suspect they separated, but I find no other records for her husband. Their son Jacob Jefferson Mikeal not listed with her in 1900--he would be age 14. Was he living with his father? No 1900 Census found for either of them.

Jacob Jefferson (Jeff) Mikeal--you show his parents John Mikeal and Elizabeth Day Mikeal. But this child does not appear on 1900 census as their child. He would have been about age 14. Where did you find him listed as their child? I can't find him. Thanks for any help. Michael Mayberry
Thank you for linking Walter Newton to his parents.
