That was very kind of you. It appears as if the tree is standing sentry to their headstone. You're right, it does look like the nicest area. Nice photography.

Thank you so much for your photographs of Robert and Esther Johnson's headstone. I especially like the way you captured the tree behind their headstone. This is a nice addition to our family tree.

My cousin believes that he is buried in Ohio, perhaps in the Tiffin area where much of the Brown family ended up. I will see if I can find more info about it. I'll send an email and attach the pics that I have. Be patient, I am not terrible adept with the pictures. I am hoping to write a posting with the pictures embedded. I'll send that along too.

Thanks. I have pictures of headstones for everyone starting with Stephen Caudill (Rev. soldier) his wife Sarah, their daughter Elizabeth who married John Q. Brown, John Q. Brown, Benjamin Brown, David Tyree and Rachel Tyree, Amos Brown. I have no accompanying records. I also have stone for Rachel, but not Elihu. I have the same pic you posted, but I believe Elihu is buried elsewhere. I can try to figure out how to upload them. I took them all last week while I was in Whitesburg and in Kings Mountain.
Richard Brown was also stumped by the fact that Valentine seems to stop and there is little about him. I did find his wife and her parents though. I am so new at this (10 days of hunting) but it is fun. Thanks again for helping me along a bit.

I have the information back through Valentine as well. I recently went to Whitesburg and we made contact with Richard Brown who also is from Benjamin's line, but a different son. There is a Brown DNA project. I remember my dad talking about Cleveland. I am wanting to get birth records for Amos so that we can extend the DAR in D.C. Through Stephen Caudill to Elizabeth who married John Q. Brown. Richard reported that there doesn't seem to be any link to Brown's in Ireland, but we match to Cain's and McCains. I am also beginning to do more research back through the Tyree side. The Trail of Tears brought the Thomas's to Whitesburg. This link: http://www.knottkentuckykinfolk.com/family_trees/thomas_family_history.htm has a great chronology of the entrance of the Cherokee into the family. We also talked to Violet Bell in Kings Mt. who remembered the Brown boys (because of their browner skin) from when she first started teaching. She is in her mid-late 90's now. Why Elihu went to Kings Mt. is unknown to our family. We suspect that Elihu may have had some Brown relative there. I am assuming you know the story of Benjamin's death as it is well chronicled in the Letcher county oral history. I'd love any information that you can add about the family. My grandfather died in 1944, so I never knew him. My dad, Frank (known as Ted) was born in Bluefield W. Va during the depression. The family ended up in Kalamazoo in the early 1940's. The story goes that Amos had to go back to W. Va to serve prison time for making "medicine." My dad was one of the youngest of Amos and Dora's children.

Elihu and Rachel Tyree were my great-grandparents. My grandfather was Amos married to Dora Floyd and my dad was Frank (known as Ted) married to Frances. I am looking for any information that you may have on this part of the family tree. I'm in the process of compiling documentation for DAR. Elihu is listed in the DAR records but the trail ends there. Thanks for posting the picture.
I found him in the Campbell Family Tree. My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org Trudy
